River Garden Senior Services has provided a wide range of high-quality nonprofit senior care services in Northeast Florida for 80 years. As they celebrate this longevity, they are looking forward to the centennial milestone that some of their residents have already crossed.
River Garden CEO Mauri Mizrahi emphasized how older adults have become one of the fastest growing populations in the United States. She said her organization is ready and excited to help them age well.
“We’ve been proudly serving as a senior services community resource since 1946, and we are continually evolving to meet seniors where they are,” said Mizrahi.
Situated on a beautiful wooded 40-acre campus in the heart of Mandarin, River Garden provides seniors with a supportive environment for whatever stage they have reached in their personal journeys with residential, outpatient and community-based offerings. River Garden offers services such as long-term nursing and memory care, short-term post-acute rehabilitation, adult day care and maintenance-free residential senior living.
The high quality of service River Garden has become known for is among the main reasons the nonprofit is a multi-year recipient of Florida’s prestigious Governor’s Gold Seal Award for Excellence in Long-Term Care.
“Our staff is committed to supporting the whole person – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually,” Mizrahi said. “The key is blending stimulating social, cultural and recreational programs with personalized medical care and resources that continually strengthen their functional abilities.”
River Garden is not only celebrating 80 years, but they are also celebrating their seven centenarians, a person who is 100 or more years old, that live on campus.
Celia Bialik was born in 1924 and is 101 years old. She has lived at River Garden for 16 years. Bialik said the secret to a long life is spending time with family and friends and laughing. She enjoys bingo, watching tennis and spending time with her sons.
Sam Newey is a 101-year-old World War II veteran who has been at River Garden for two months. He said the secret to a good life is kindness and giving.
