I'm in the middle of slapping pavers down around the corner of the house, there's this planter, was just bricks but I stuccoed it like an idiot and now I'm thinking I should maybe do something else should I demo it and just do pavers there as well or is there something else I can do like some sort of cool water feature or some shit I don't know any thoughts would be appreciated, this is in Phoenix Arizona northwest corner of house

What you can put there in terms of plants will depend on how much sun it gets. If it gets good sun I’d put a cool cactus there in a bed of sand.

Another good option is a big ole monolithic stone in sand. Kinda like a tiny rock garden.

I would not want to put anything with deep roots or standing water that close to the house.

Some will say bushes or flowers… I was thinking hot tub. Just knock it out before you’re too deep into the pavers. End the thinking on this… anything cool or wonderful you want to add can be done above the pavers, so end this weird corner for decades to come. 😁

Before you do anything regarding water features or plant it up where is your damp course? The last thing you want is to finish a feature and then have serious damp problems inside the house.

Install waterproofing above and below grade and opt for zone hardy perennials with an assortment of color and texture.

Demo but if you’re lazy, then make an herb garden

I would demo it. You can always put a potted plant or plant shelves in that area if you want greenery. Seems like a tripping hazard as it is now.

  7. I vote for removing it and going with pavers. I’ve never liked the idea of features next to the foundation that can hold water. Good luck.

Decorative rock then a couple concrete circles.Pick out a couple of nice pots and whatever decorative plants that can survive and live in the pots.

it’s lovely, with some greenery in there it will soften the lines of the house and look pretty from inside. looks like it is in shade so something simple to grow like ferns would look nice (depends on your location). i’d avoid anything that would require a great deal
of water or care which can be a nuisance.

How much maintenance you wanna put in? That and sun exposure.

I’m doing all edibles now, a few varieties of ginger would really pop

Do u have some matching paint for the side of the house. Just my own personal opinion but it might give a more even flow to the whole area

Fill up more dirt and plant a bush

It looks like it’s pretty shady, so Ferns and hostas would be happy there. If it gets some sun, add some coral bells. These are all perennials so once they are well started you can just water when needed and let them grow. Be sure to amend the soil first.

Maybe a yard sculpture or fountain

    Keep it as a plantbed.

The lines of your path are nice now. And you really don’t want to create a storage nook right in front of your window. Make it a feature.
