Here’s a survival food maybe you never thought of. You might already know that the entire dandelion plant is edible. The only part you don’t really want to eat is the white seed fluff, but the seeds can be eaten. Only problem is it’s a pain to separate them from the fluff unless you have a lighter. It’s a quick and easy way to do it while slightly toasting them at the same time. This won’t give you a ton of calories by any means, but it can help supplement the rest of your diet. Maybe season your fish with them or eat them by themselves.

  1. During Holodomor in Ukraine, my great grandmother used to cook dandelion soups both for herself and for her baby sister, because there was nothing else to eat. In WW2, dandelions saved my family yet again, because it was the only thing that they could safely grow without arousing suspicion

  2. Anyone else just look outside for a dandelion seed head only to remember it is not their time of year anymore

  3. You buy a lighter for 2 dollars to get dandelion seeds instead of buying a kg of rice which is a bucket of cooked rice 😂

  4. In Lebanese cuisine we actually have a dish that’s pretty much boiled dandelions, known as hendbeh. Probably my most hated Lebanese dish

  5. Love me some Dandelion. UK equivalent of Root Beer is Dandelion & Burdock. Best soda flavour.

  6. Dandelion is a very versatile plant, the root makes a very good coffee substitute, as good as commercial instant coffee in my opinion, and the leaves and flowers are good for salads too and packed with good nutrients

  7. Completely useless to eat in a survival situation, actually detrimental. Contain no nutrition and only plant alkaloids which your body will have to detox. Just because you can eat something and not be acutely poisoned, does not mean it gives you any benefits.

  8. Dandelion tea. We used to think were so cool as kids. We also used to eat honey suckles, cane juice, and clovers.

  9. Il faut pas non plus donner certaines idées aux pyromanes…
À propos d'idée… Tu sais pas que dans les champs il y a plein de lapins?

  10. I didnt know those white puff-weeds mixed among the wildflowers in early spring are they that turn into dandelions. I did know that dandelions seeds and flowers are edible, however.
