We’re at that point of the calendar where we’re encouraged to retreat back inside – to a sanctuary with knitted throw blankets, candles, and everything pumpkin spiced. If anyone can convince us otherwise, however, it’s Martha Stewart, the original influencer, who has designed outdoor lighting that’s dreamy enough to keep us outdoors that little bit longer.
Martha Stewart’s Metal Lantern (available at QVC) is all you need to upgrade your patio for the cooler weeks – or even months – ahead. It has the warming glow you’d expect from a candle without any safety concerns (yes, the electronic flame can be controlled with a remote), and its charming colorway introduces a touch of the unexpected red theory without feeling overpowering.
While we’ve seen Martha design a host of beautiful furniture and accessories for inside our homes, this lantern is one of the most notable outdoor pieces I’ve seen this year. Beautiful but functional, it’s tempted me back to my garden, but I will continue to admire it through my patio window when the freezing temperatures arrive.

Martha’s lantern feels timeless, but that doesn’t make it any less fashionable for 2025 (and long into 2026), as experts explain.
‘Lighting trends in 2025 are not confined to interiors. Outdoor spaces are being treated as true extensions of the home, with lighting playing a vital role in how they are enjoyed,’ comments James Kendall, the operations director at KES Lighting & Home.
‘Discreet wall lights, lantern-style fittings and ground-level LEDs are creating ambience while also improving safety. Warm-toned bulbs and layered schemes ensure gardens, patios and terraces feel inviting long after the sun has gone down. Well-chosen outdoor lighting allows homeowners to extend their living areas and make the most of every season.’
Martha’s red lantern is my favorite, but she has yet more alternatives to tempt you back outside this fall. I’ve handpicked some more pieces below.
