Reiss Gardening Club’s 30th annual flower show was well supported, with a colourful display of plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables in the village hall.

The sunny summer clearly helped to increase the number of entries in all sections. The children’s entries were so numerous that there was little wall room left.

Helen Hill along with Alison Hill had the tough job of judging the pot plants, cut flowers and floral art. Andrew Leith judged the fine array of fruit and vegetables.

Classes from Noss Primary School showed off their artistic talents and had put a lot of work into their entries, and this had judge Kerry O’Keefe tied in knots to make decisions.

There were many new faces among the visitors to the show in the evening who enjoyed the entries along with an opportunity to try their luck at the bottle stall and raffle.

Other stalls offered baking, vegetables and plants for sale.

The trophies were presented by Marion Sutherland.

Reiss Gardening Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 2pm in Reiss hall. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 7, when Willie Watt will give a talk on the Seafarers Memorial.

New members are always welcome.
