Getting our patio re-done and there used to be a step down on the whole left side. However in re-doing it the contractor said he could do it without needing a step down. I assumed he would dig out the higher part and make the entire area one level but now it looks like part of it will be a literal hill. I just want to make sure that this will be okay and it’s just not a really bad job. I’m relying on them to have the knowledge to know if this is done professionally. I don’t like to speak up but asking here first to make sure it’s warranted.
The company is reputable and the owner is also part of the town DPW.
Any advice is welcome!

Wtf
Congrats on the new pool
Bruh
This is ridiculous lol. If eliminating the step either go all up to the higher elevation or go all down to the lower.
Dog what the hell
Get the sled, honey!!!
Really though, what the heck!?!?
It is very odd and now would be the time to have them change it back to a step. I would think that as long as there is a general slope away from the house then it is okay if you can handle the slope and the aesthetics it has.
You’ve got different parts of your yard at different heights and there should be a step between because it’s been possible to grade them to be flat
So NOT okay.
Your contractor either needs to incorporate a step as was originally there or pull the pavers and regrade the base to level.
My jaw literally dropped. This is absolutely NOT OK
Building a permanent slip n slide
This is one of the funniest things I’ve seen on this sub 😂
Turn it into a skateboard park
That’s about the laziest and unprofessional job I’ve seen on here
I’m not an expert but to me it looks like a great way to slip on the snow or ice and injure yourself badly.
Only two options.
Backfill or excavate. Full stop.
Slope is stoooooopid in every way.
If you asked for a patio to go sledding on then absolutely, its great! Enjoy the ride.
Outside of that, no lol. Itll most likely lead to thousands in home repairs in the future.
Usually you need mushrooms to trip, now you just need to walk outside
That’s a lot of water running towards your home…
This is one of the crazier things I’ve seen
I honestly was questioning if this was a joke post. This will not pass any inspection or code. This is/will be a hazard which you & this “contractor”will be liable. You will most likely be forced to fix it before selling your house. I’m sorry this happened to you
TAKEN FOR A RIDE
Tell him before he progresses any further. I think a step down is much better and cleaner look.
Not only is his slope a joke this pattern is incorrect on this type of techo block.
Coming from someone who has laid 1000’s of square feet of this stuff sure you can change it up if you want but this just hurts my brain.
This seems like an absolutely fantastic way to slip and bust your ass once a little algae grows on the pavers.
