Looking for a colourful, shade tolerant plant to put in these pots under the the windows. I really like the idea of planting bougainvilleas, the bright pink flowers would look stunning against the white but from what I understand they require a lot of direct sunlight which this area doesn't get much of at all throughout the day. Any ideas? Maybe some coleus or snapdragons?

Impatiens, there are some stunning pinks. Oh and don’t put that ficus in the ground, whatever you do!
This week someone posted pics of Australian indigo – Indigofera australis – which has lovely pink flowers and tolerates shade really well.
If the shade is fairly consistent, a hoya (wax flower) growing on a support/trellis would be cool. The leaves can get sunburnt but apart from that they are very tough.

– Ajuga (pink to bluish purple flower spikes with colourful leaves)
– Melaleuca ‘Purple Form’
– Fuschias
– Coleus (colourful leaves)
– Hellebore ‘Double White Spotted’, ‘Plum Purple’, ‘Raspberry Ripple’, ‘Shell Pink’, etc.
– Heuchera aka Coreal Bells (pink flower spikes with colourful leaves)
– Impatients
– New Guinea Impatients
– Azalea
– Bleeding Heart plant
– Begonia (orange, white or pink flowers with colourful leaves)
Do you want year-round foliage and colour? And how big do you want it to get/what level of maintenance are you after?
Bougainvillea are gorgeous and would climb BUT they are thorny!
Bleeding hearts are absolutely beautiful and also climb but off memory they go dormant and lose leaves/flowers.
I’d go cuphea, and you can get it with purple flowers.
Peace liles are easy, though they aren’t colourful.
Begonias? Ive always found them easy. You can get some many varieties but pink and red are easy to find.
You could even go with daisies or something similar. Lavender? Then you get aroma as well.
Where does the sun rise and set in relation to the pots? Do they get any direct sunlight? Morning or afternoon?
