Well, that doesn’t seem too promising. If you’ve been living under a rock the past month and don’t know what’s going on, let me fill you in. I found a 10,000lb boulder sticking out of my yard, decided to dig it up, and placed it right here in front of my house. Now, I’m in the process of landscaping around it to make it look like it belongs. Here’s part two. [Music] I’ve got this plant next to the house um that’s honestly not in the best spot and it’s called an obedient plant and you can see that it’s kind of growing into this bush here. But at the same time, leaning this way to try to get as much sunlight as possible. Aside from being loved by bees, uh what’s perfect about this plant for our spot is the verticality of it. And um so if we come over here next to the boulder, this slice right here, I really don’t want anything that’s going to continue to lean over the driveway. So the obedient plant will act as a perfect filler right here. And it’s also a step down in size that will taper the size of our plants down to the front of our border and look really good in the space provided. Nice. Both of these will go I think the bulk of this will go right here. lot another smaller plant here and then some crawling plants along the front to sort of stay out of the way and not block the boulder. Okay, so those look pretty pitiful right there. That’s the obedient plant. So, as someone who does not transplant things very often, I hope that that’s normal and those are going to spring back to life once I water them in. But there we go. Got the wila, the obedient plant. Uh the ornamental grasses in the back. Again, really excited to continue along this front part of the boulder. Stay tuned as the boulder landscaping project continues.

  1. It’s also a good idea to check the way to propagate your plants. Some don’t like being transplanted. They will die in a short time some do really well. Also for the creeping plants you can pull stems and they will root, dependent on the plant. Your giving a lot of love to this corner so hope it will be great curb appeal for you and your neighbors.

  2. That obedient plant will.get really tall. Keep cutting it back. The Weigela will get really big too.

  3. Yall need to stop with the weed fabric. It literally makes weeds harder to pull and puts many plants to eternal slumber. They don’t like the shit and neither does the earth.

  4. Landscape fabric was a huge mistake. It's only meant to be used for preventing gravel from sinking into the native soil below. It's not going to prevent weeds from growing and now they'll grow into the fabric and make removal a living hell. Ask me how I know!

  5. It will look more like it belongs when you mount the dirt up around the entire base and up the side a few inches so it looks like it’s been there forever.

  6. Trim the obedient plant down a bit. Cut back the flattened fronds. It will recover. All plants have some transplant shock. Even bringing plants home from the store to indoors, it’s recommended not to change the pot or environment for a few days until it acclimatizes to your home temperature and humidity.

  7. Have a stone engraver put your name or address # on the stone since its so close to the road. Add a solar spot light on it at night.

  8. So, you’re not going to paint a message on the bolder? Like, “welcome”, “keep off my lawn!”, “God Bless”?!? That boulder is screamin’ to be bedazzled!! 🎉

  9. You should get washable paints and paint a quote/saying for each holiday or a bible quote (sry if that’s disrespectful idk if u are religious or not)
