Two cups of oats. Okay. So, my apples are now ready. It’s time to turn off the heat. So, there you have it. Delicious apple and blackberry crumble. So, this is our dog, Arlo. He’s a Bavarian mountain hound dog. And he’s a little rascal, aren’t you? He’s very excited. Don’t Don’t you bark at me, you rascal. Go play. Go play. Run. Go on. Yeah, we use the ladder. Come on. Come on. Come on. Get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. Hello there and welcome to Cody’s Garden and welcome to my homestead cooking series. So, in today’s video, I’m going to share with you how to make a delicious apple and blackberry crumble using fresh food from the edible garden patch. So, let’s get started. [Music] So, they’re quite nice and decent size apple. It’s really an unusual apple here. So, it’s quite a stormy day here today in the northeast of Ireland. [Music] Okay. So, I’m just going to preheat my oven to 200°. So, I’m going to be using two cups of oats and two cups of flour. 1 tbsp of brown sugar. And now we’re going to sprinkle some cinnamon. And not too much because you don’t want to overkill the flavor. Two slices of butter. And I’ll break it up in just a moment. So, you can use a pastry cutter if you want to, but I usually just do this by hand. I find it quite relaxing, in fact. So, you can see it’s starting to look like bread crumbs, and that’s the consistency you want for the crumble. So, you can leave the skin on the apples if you want to, and that will definitely give it more flavor, but there is a few little spots on my apples, so I’m just going to remove them. And now all I do is I put a tablespoon of brown sugar, sprinkle of cinnamon, and 1/4 cup of water so it doesn’t dry out the apples. You don’t want your apples to go brown either as we’re cooking them. Maybe just a little bit more. Just a little sprinkle of cinnamon just for a little taste. Okay. So, my apples are ready. It’s time to turn off the heat. Okay, so this is the fun part. So now I’m just going to get to put all my beautiful apples in here. Smells absolutely gorgeous. So, I’m going to bake this in the oven for at least 20 minutes or until golden brown. You also want to make sure that it’s bubbling before you take it out of the oven. So, this dish was passed down from my grandmother to my mother and down to me. So, hopefully in the future, please God, I will pass it on to my grandchildren. Okay, so my apple and blackberry crumble is now ready and it’s still bubbling around the edges. Okay, as you can see, it’s a rich golden color, so that’s a good sign. Now, it’s time to serve it. So, you can serve this with fresh cream or custard if you want to. Either way, it’s really nice. Or you can just have it completely plain. Look at that. Isn’t that absolutely gorgeous? So, there you have it. Delicious apple and blackberry crumble. So, let’s try this out now. M. Absolutely delicious. So, this is our dog, Arlo. He’s a Bavarian mountain hound dog. And he’s a little rascal, aren’t you? Go on, boy. Go get the carrot. We can play with the carrot. Go on. Yep. Go next door to get his carrot. No, don’t jump on me. Don’t. And he’s very excited. Don’t Don’t you bark at me, you rascal. Go play. Go play. Where’s your bun? Where’s your bun? Where is it? Go get your Oh, right. He has a carrot. He likes playing with the carrots. Come on. Good boy. Give me that carrot. Give me that carrot. Bring it. Bring it. Come on. Bring it. Bring it. Bring it. Bring it. He jumped on over me. He jumped on over my jumper. Come on. So, it’s quite a stormy day here today in Ireland. So, the summer is definitely over. Hello, Arlo. Hello. Hello. Hello. It’s playtime. Run. Go on. The two of them race for the trampoline. He loves playing with my son, of course. Sit down. See, it gets quite stubborn sometimes. Are you ready? Here you go, Arlo. Back this way. Good boy. Come on. Come on. Yeah, we use the ladder. So, this is probably one of the most unusual things my son had to do in his life, I’d say. Pouring out of the heaven’s hair, Arlo. Come on. Good boy. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Get in. Get in. Get in. Get in. Good boy. Get in.
