Greenwood Community Centre’s garden in Orford has been revitalised with support from Linden Homes, Torus, Warrington and Vale College, and Warrington Council’s Communities and Wellbeing services.
The project is part of multiple community improvement projects near Linden Homes’ Radley Woods at Peel Hall development.
Zac Worthington, managing director at Vistry Merseyside and Cheshire West, said: “We’re always looking for new ways to support the local community in Warrington.
“Radley Woods at Peel Hall Garden Village is an exciting development for us, and we want to ensure our neighbours feel supported.
“I would like to extend a huge thank you to the Linden Homes and Torus team, as well as all volunteers from our partners who got stuck in and found their green fingers to help this great community organisation.”
In 2024, Linden Homes contributed more than £3,000 to support the centre’s garden.
Since then, volunteers have painted fences, trimmed plants, installed an outdoor tap, and built raised flower beds.
Further improvements will be delivered in the coming months by Groundwork Landscapes, funded by UKSPF and Cadent.
Linden Homes also supplied materials for a new wooden fence, which was constructed by Warrington and Vale College construction students.
Cllr Jean Flaherty, deputy leader for communities, culture, and leisure, said: “The transformation of Greenwood Community Centre is a shining example of partnership working at its best.
“We’re proud to be part of a team dedicated to creating vibrant, inclusive spaces that bring lasting benefits to the community.
“The enthusiasm from all user groups, especially around the new community garden, reflects the spirit of collaboration and belonging that makes this project so special.”
The community centre also serves as a hub for housing and employment updates and already hosts services delivered by the Torus Foundation.
The work is part of Linden Homes’ wider commitment to supporting the community around Peel Hall Garden Village.
The company’s Radley Woods development, launching later this year, will feature a range of three, four, and five-bedroom homes.
