Tooting Triangle is a unique part of Tooting Common, home to a rare mix of community facilities, including a playground, football pitch, boxing club, and community garden.
As a listening council, we have been working with local residents and stakeholders since 2020 to identify ways to improve and enhance the space, safeguarding it for years to come. Most recently, this included engaging with over 200 people as part of the Our Triangle Time consultation.
Based on this engagement exercise, and all the feedback received to date, we are proposing a series of improvements to reduce flooding, upgrade play facilities, brighten up the railway bridges leading onto the Triangle, and improve the football pitch. We want to hear your thoughts on these proposals, to help us unlock the potential of the space.
Our new online engagement hub launched on Saturday 6 September, at the latest Community Drop-In for the Tooting Bec and South Balham wards.
Whether it’s making the playground more inclusive, improving drainage to protect the site, or enhancing sports facilities, your views will help guide the next steps. The engagement hub will also include updates on future projects, such as improvements to the boxing club, community garden, railway underpasses and the former One O’Clock Club, making it more viable for future potential use.

Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
“Tooting Triangle is a special place for many people, whether you come here to play, train, relax or connect with nature. This is your opportunity to shape how it evolves. As part of our Decade of Renewal for the borough, we’re investing in improvements, but we want the community to lead the way. Your feedback will help us create a space that’s resilient, inclusive, and truly reflects local priorities.”
Proposed works include:
All weather football pitch surface repairs to extend its lifespan and improve safety, with works starting in Autumn 2025
Investment in flood mitigation, following feedback from the consultationPlayground consultation as part of Wandsworth’s Year of Play, gathering ideas ahead of detailed design
Improvements to the railway underpasses, inspired by the Falcon Road transformation
Upgrades to the Balham Boxing Club and former One O’Clock Club
Revitalisation of the community garden to support growing, gathering, and creativity

Our Triangle Time
The Transforming Tooting Triangle programme builds on the success of “Our Triangle Time”, an engagement process held in December 2024. Over 200 residents took part in workshops and discussions, highlighting Tooting Triangle’s mix of facilities and the urgent need to address flooding, accessibility, and infrastructure. Their feedback has directly shaped the projects now being launched.
