Had these since spring, never seen them before. The flytrap had been kept inside with a grow light.

    It looks like sphagnum moss, which it was most likely planted in because its good for it. Moss has a ecosystem of its own

    Carpet moss or star moss. Not bad in small amounts but if you let it cover the whole pot for long enough it can form a pretty dense top layer of moss with deep roots that can stunt plants a bit. Best to pick it out while you can unless you plan on repotting but it’s also kind of hard to prevent anyway
