California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) tore into President Donald Trump for hosting an exclusive event at what he’s calling the “Rose Garden Club” at the White House while Americans suffer from rising prices and a troubling jobs market.
“Our economy is in a downward spiral, but don’t worry — the GOP are spending their time cheersing Diet Cokes at a new, exclusive ‘club,’” Newsom wrote from his personal account on X.
His press office account ― which Newsom and his team have been using to troll Trump ― went even further, rebranding the “club” with a biting new nickname.
“Welcome to the Predator Patio!” they wrote:
Newsom’s press office account also shared a tweet from the event posted by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).
“After ripping health care from 17 million Americans and slashing food stamps for kids, we’re glad Mike ‘Marie Antoinette’ Johnson and his boy friends had time to toast the grand opening of the Predator Patio,” they wrote.

In a separate message, Newsom and his press office roasted White House press secretary Karoline Levitt, depicting her as Effie Trinket from the “Hunger Games” movies unveiling the new patio:
And to cap it off, Newsom’s press office also posted a closing date for the patio ― Jan. 20, 2029, or what would be Trump’s final day in office:
Trump paved over a portion of the once grass-covered Rose Garden to create the patio.
“We call it the Rose Garden Club. And it’s a club for senators, for congresspeople and for people in Washington, and frankly, people that can bring peace and success to our country,” the president declared on Friday.
Newsom has been using his press office account to mock Trump by posting messages in the president’s bombastic style.

The governor said it’s not simply trolling.
“We’re putting a mirror up to the lunacy that is Trump’s tweets, and his grift, the madness that is someone that would dress up as the pope and tweet that out or put his face up there on Mount Rushmore, or in a Superman costume,” he said at a news conference last month. “So I do think it’s important to put that mirror, that lens, back and have everyone reflect on it and say, ‘Have we accepted this as normal?’ Why aren’t we calling this out more clearly?”
