Escape to the Country’s Ginny Buckley was on a quest to assist Mark and Sue, a couple hailing from Bow in East London, in their search for an idyllic home in Somerset. The first property they visited seemed promising initially, but the garden space left them feeling disappointed.
Tucked away in a tranquil cul-de-sac on the western outskirts of Yeovil, Mark and Sue found themselves at a property with great potential.
Ginny asked: “What are your first thoughts?” to which Sue replied: “Impressive, nice looking house.”
Mark added his thoughts: “Looks like it has lots of character, done really nicely,” Ginny revealed: “The inside space that’s on offer is really going to appeal to the two of you considering you’ve come from a 2-bed flat in London!”.
As they stepped inside, the presenter explained: “This L-shaped detached home was built in 1975, using reconstituted stone and has character features. The front door leads into the hallway, from which all the rooms fan out.”, reports the Express.
When asked about the size comparison to their current kitchen, Sue responded: “It is about six times as big!”

Ginny then suggested exploring the extension at the back, saying: “It’s made even bigger, of course, by this extension at the back, so let’s go and take a look at this space,”.
Inside the extension, she clarified: “This was added on to open up the kitchen space, the lovely high ceiling and it looks out all the way, the three sides into the garden.
“Really lovely, I can imagine sitting in here and that’s what we want – something where we can do different things but be in the same room,” Sue expressed. Following their tour of the remaining ground floor areas, Ginny took the potential purchasers upstairs to view the first floor.
Nevertheless, the principal bedroom proved disappointing. Sue observed: “I don’t think this has got the personalisation that it’s got downstairs, it’s like walking into a hotel room; nice plain room.

“Seems a bit small as well. Downstairs is so impressive and very big,” Mark added.
“Let’s head down and explore the good size garden,” Ginny proposed, attempting to keep the viewing atmosphere upbeat.
“Outside there’s an integral garage as well as gardens to the front, rear and side. There’s also a large deck seating area off the downstairs extension,” she explained to viewers watching at home.
Ginny then addressed the pair directly, asking: “What do you think? Is this about the size garden you had in mind?”.
Following a momentary silence, Mark eventually replied: “It’s tad small.
“I’d say a bit more than a tad!” Sue interrupted. “Quite a lot, we’re looking for a reasonable amount more than this.

“Obviously the extension has eating into quite a lot of the garden space,” Ginny responded. “I don’t think it’s big enough for what we’re after,” Sue stated firmly.
Ginny then explained further: “I wasn’t sure, you were going from nothing, I thought maybe you didn’t want to go for too much!”.
“If you’re going to go for it, go for it properly,” the lady emphasised.
The discussion then turned to the asking price, with Ginny enquiring: “How much do you think this property is worth?”.
Mark estimated £425,000 and Sue guessed £410,000. “You’re both under,” Ginny revealed. “It’s on the market bang on budget, £450,000.”
Following a second viewing of the house, the pair concluded: “Downstairs is really good, it’s perfect, really like that. pop that in another house, bigger garden that’s lovely.”
Escape to the Country airs weekdays at 3pm on BBC One.
