I got stung by this plant when I was a kid playing in a creek in the mountains of California, stinging nettle is a medical plant and can also be used to make fertilizer.

We have those everywhere here in the UK the sting is horrible and you never get used to it, you only have to go near them and they get you, got stung on my foot the other day which took 3 days to go away.

Find some plantain leaves and rub the juice on the sting will take it right out. Stinging nettles are very nutritious (COOK FIRST or dry) and adds a lot of nutrients to the compost pile or if chopped / dropped. Nettle is also used in replace of rennet for vegetarian cheese making.

Stinging Nettles aren’t nice to be handled with barehands. They make good tea when dried. The young leaves and shoots are great for nettle soup!

Stinging nettles, they have a mild stinging that clears up pretty quickly. If you suffer with hay-fever then once a day sting yourself and it will stop bothering you, haven’t had to take any hay-fever tablets for the last year since I started. Super high in iron, if you like spinach then this is a great food as well.

Our local herbalist recommends treating the sting with more nettle. Roll it up in a ball and rub the affected area.
As herbal medicine, they are used to treat cholesterol as well as other maladies!!

Stinging Nettle, a very important plant in human history. Used for thousands of years as a fiber crop (like flax or hemp) to make textiles.

I must be semi-immune. Have some in my ‘garden’ and I touch it sometimes. It stings for a little while but I never get welts & the sting dissipates pretty quickly. Mine is on the north side of the garage & doesn’t get direct sun. Maybe it isn’t as virulent then.

It’s funny how, if you have a bad reaction, the brain puts an image of the plant front and center. I looked at the first pix and thought ‘PUT THAT DOWN!’.
