Well, I think it’s an insect, not a bug. It is a Hummingbird Hawkmoth. Lovely things, consider yourself lucky!

What plant is it that it’s feeding on? Would love to have these in the garden. I saw a hummingbird hawk moth at a nearby pub recently, so I know they visit my area.

So glad you posted this. Saw one in my verbena earlier and was trying to point it out but by the time people turned around it had slid off sideways. I described it as flighty and it is that, so erratic.
