What year did your business open? June 1, 2020. As a former bartender for the last almost 30 years, I was laid off during COVID and began just trying to think of something else to do to earn some money. I threw a post up on Facebook about weeding gardens and from there things just took off! I went from just me and a shovel to a whole team of employees, trucks, a trailer and lots of tools. It’s been a dream I didn’t even know I had come true.
Where will you display the People’s Choice trophy? My husband has framed every certificate I have received from the People’s Choice Awards and my cover of Central Illinois Business magazine.
Tell us why your business is so good at what it does. We are a group of caring and hardworking people who love interacting and forming relationships with our clients.
What band — any band — is playing at your company party? Little Feat.
In 25 years — 2050 — what’s your business going to look like? I started this business later in life, so it’s really hard to think about 25 years from now, I really try hard to stay in the moment. One thing that Amy B Gardening has done for me is to give me confidence in myself, that hard work and determination make things possible and that things you never thought about can happen. Doors open if you get out of your own way.
