  1. I installed the Merlin app on my phone after I heard you talking about it,its amazing how it picks up all the different bird songs I was surprised by the variety of birds in just my yard. Merlin bird app so much more educational than Pokemon

  2. Alexa says a pole barn is agricultural barn made of metal posts when there's no foundation. In Texas, one uses old telephone poles, used power poles, etc. Because metal was expensive back then. A pole's a pole. cgzone8

  3. I love your videos and have worked up the courage to install a small irrigation system by myself. Could you devote part of a video on how to blow out the lines? Thanks for all you do!

  4. Please do tree only videos! Videos often focus on annuals, perennials and shrubs and only a quick mention of the beautiful trees. Maybe focus on the Evergreens in one (you frequently mention the boxwoods but not single specimens). Then do a video on deciduous only and videos in each season focused only on trees. Could you talk about what you hope to see with tree growth in the future both from a shade perspective and creating beautiful vistas in the gardens. These discussions would be so informative for those of us with little experience in adding trees to our landscapes.

  5. recently I found out that oregano has the highest amount of pesticides when bought from the store, who would have thought!! So Im totally going to grow my own for next year.

  6. Hello, I was wondering do you have any Ivory Silk Japanese Lilac Trees on your property? Do they grow in your plant zone? I think that one would look great either in the dirt lands or a replacement for the Indian Magic Crab Apple tree that died in front of the south formal flower garden.

  7. I'm with you Laura, why have brick if you are going to lime wash them. I love the brick look. No lime wash for me. Unfortunately, the people who flip houses wind up lime washing the brick on the older homes in our area and I don't like it.

  8. I'm so glad skinny jeans are out, makes people look like they are walking around on sticks lol, but cargo shorts and pants are never out of style!

Maybe a tool belt for gardeners would work.

  9. Wardrobe: I like your black shirts, it adds continuity to your videos. Like you said it's no fuss, no-brainer, grab and go, and you're not giving away your 'secrets' to the internet! LOL! 😊🤣When I worked retail, they had a dress code of course, I bought 9 solid colored shirts that fit the dress code, same style just different colors and I rotated 1-9 and back around again. I had a spot in my 2nd bedroom where I hung up my work clothes, they could call anytime for extra hours, so everything was clean, pressed and ready to go. I had my trousers, shirts, shoes, socks and every day I'd chose a different shirt and pant combination. I'm an organized soul! Someone at work complained that I was 'boring' but my boss came to my rescue and said that I was 'professional looking' and this was my 'uniform' and I liked that idea. This person had never seen me off the clock, and this girl is NOT boring, I'm just not like the others who push the boundaries of the dress code. No low cut, no 'club' clothes, no sheer, no bum crack showing, not too tight. I guess they were complaining because I was dressing like a grown-up, oh no! 😲🤭
God bless you & yours!!! 🙏

  10. You did a rose tour about 3-5years ago. I was looking for recommendations. I know that your roses are different now. So an updated rose tour would be nice.

  11. The Merlin app is great, I have had it for a while and LOVE it. And as far as Benjamin, it's very educational and healthy for anyone who enjoys it. Don't we all wish education in our time was FUN!! GO BENJAMIN, and congrats on breaking 100 !! 🥰

  12. The two things I remember being amazed with (and still am) 1. How long is a teaspoon of water?(Spoiler-50 billion kms).

And 2. something like there are more stars in the sky than there are grains of sand on earth and there are more atoms in a single grain of sand than there are stars in the sky.

Correct me if I'm wrong, science changes lol.

  13. Have you ever considered cutting back your hostas near the end of July? A friend of mine does this every year (zone 6b now 7) when they are looking so tired and they come back beautifully during August and September. I wonder how yours would do if you tried this? Maybe experiment on one or two next year? Love your channel and have gained so much inspiration from you. Thank you.

  14. For your pocket problem a colleague of mine used to use a photographer's vest which had more pockets than a herd of Kangaroos. It was apparently (he said), comfortable and that he could put lots of odds and ends in the pockets.

  15. Benjamin got me hooked on Merlin. My husband and I sit by our bird feeders with the app open! Thank you Benjamin. BTW we have two Benjamins in our family, a son and grandson.

  16. Cog Hill Farm which is another fantastic YT channel have a daughter who is now a teenager and is also obsessed with birds…. Just a suggestion but a gift of a camera so he can start taking bird photos. Also there are many bird watching events I gather. It’s such a lovely pastime for Benjamin.

  17. NOOOO! Aaron, not fire engine red!! Under line blue red is much richer in color!!!
BUT…..my husband totally agrees with the cargo shorts!! Must have!!!

  18. Aaron I completely agree with kids shadowing, it's so helpful. We also need more apprenticeships programs!
I shadowed in 12th grade to see if I wanted to become a phlebotomist & I (allegedly) turned pale & got dizzy watch blood in the machine that keeps it mixed.🤢
However, I did end up a veterinary technician and came home covered in blood (and worse) and didn't mind it a bit.😂 It was definitely the human factor that gave me the "ick"!!🤷🏽‍♀️

  19. I believe you are in the Central Flyway bird migration route. In the fall, the birds migrate from North to Central and South America. It is a wonderful time for Benjamin to use his Merlin app. Especially in areas designated as fall migration pattern areas.
Such a fun, educational and healthy activity for kids of all ages. Good luck Benjamin! ❤

  20. I read somewhere, that Albert Einstein always wore the same outfit. He had found an outfit, he liked, and then just bought multiples of each, because it was one less distraction for his brain, if that decision was already made 😊
