I potted this from water about a month ago. I didn't do enough research and didn't use the right blend of soil, bark, etc. Soil has really compacted and it's still moist two weeks later.

I've got two sad leaves that never really bounced back from potting and a third is now starting to yellow. Do I repot it with the right mix? Will I shock it too much? Not sure how to help it.

I love monsteras but am a total newbie no matter how much I read. Appreciate any advice!

I wouldn’t worry about that. I’d worry about tying her up like that.

Repot it asap in a much more chunky soil mix.

You don’t need to water these on a schedule… the leaves will start to droop when the plant is thirsty.

I’m very sorry to be useless but as I’m going to be doing that same thing this week I feel for you and I may as well pay attention to your responses. I’m so new that I’m not sure what some of the ingredients are or how to pronounce them. Good luck

If the soil has been wet for 2 weeks, I’d pull it out asap before even more roots rot. Then put it in a window.

you gotta get it out of that soil asap. check for rot in the roots, remove anything mushy.

repot into an aroid mix (everywhere on the internet). should be the chunkiest shit you’ve ever seen.

repot into the mix in a pot with a lot of drainage holes. i wouldn’t recommend putting that pot into a decorative pot as it will make aeration more difficult, but its your preference!

as for support, be careful using twine—this can dig into the stem as it grows and cause damage. highly recommend gardening velcro (also everywhere on the internet. cheap + reusable)

and i know i know, not everyone wants a moss pole, but if you want the best for your monstera, i highly recommend!!

if the moss pole maintenance is what turns you off, i highly recommend the self watering poles by BetterGrow on etsy. i have a ton of theirs and i dont have to refill the reservoir very often at all

The yellow tips are because the petiole is submerged. It’s beginning to rot where the petiole meets the stem. It will work its way inward and take out the leaf unless this is resolved asap.

Untreated wood left in wet soil can get moldy which it looks like it’s starting to already – repot and find a different support pole option

just do it gently, you don’t have to get rid of all the soil.

Looks overwatered to me. Could also use more perlite or coarse medium. Also, because you planted it from water it should be in a smaller pot as the roots definitely are not filling half of that pot.
