There will be more than plants blossoming at the Eastpointe Community Garden on Sept. 12; creativity will be in full bloom at the second annual Art in the Garden show.

Artists of all genres are welcome to submit works for display and the all-ages free event runs from 6-8 p.m. and is open to all art enthusiasts. If you are an experienced artist or a novice, you are welcome to participate in this event and all mediums are accepted.

“It was such an amazing event last year, we wanted to have it again at the garden,” said volunteer Bill Randazzo. “For me, the garden is such an incredibly magical place.

“I’ve helped since 2012 and to see what a few amazing residents and non residents can do with a whole lot of heart and drive, we have come such a long way.”

Randazzo said the mix of nature in the garden and beautiful pieces of art created by people in the community makes for a welcoming environment.

“To have art from the community in a garden that has grown from the hands of the community is such a pleasure,” said Randazzo. “Then, to incorporate their art with our flowers, vegetables, butterflies, bees, dragonflies and all the nature we have brought to this magical place is truly special.”

Applications are still being accepted and can be submitted through urbanseed.info/eastpointe-community-garden/art-in-the-garden-2025-application/.

Randazzo said he loves seeing everyone come together, especially people that might not normally cross paths. Attendees can relax, look at all of the art and maybe sit around the fire and have a great conversation with a newly made friend.

“The garden has always been a place of acceptance of who you are no matter your walk of life,” Randazzo said. “People that wouldn’t normally meet are now having cool conversations about random things that they enjoy.”

Parking will be available in the church lot next to the Eastpointe Community Garden and on surrounding side streets.
