I learned a lot from my grandpa, the most important garden tips came from him. These are the top five tips he taught me and that he would want you to know.

  1. I always need to pay attention to what works for our growing season and climate changes. My Minneola tangelo has fruit ripening from a bloom last fall, immature fruits from a spring bloom and is getting ready to bloom again right now. It's NOT an ever bearing but or fruit trees often have seasonal confusion. I just planted winter squash at the end of July. That's what works for me.

  2. Beautiful video Luke, and thank you for sharing your Grandfather's memory with all of us.

I know you are hurting from the cruel comment about you being a fake, how ridiculous for someone to think that. I have been following your videos for years, and you are one of the most honest creators on YouTube. This year, my garden grew your gorgeous Amana tomatoes, sugar snap peas and an assortment of wildflowers, all aided by the essential Trifecta fertilizer. The business you have developed along with your family, is a true result of your gardening knowledge and willingness to teach others. You are a good, decent man, and your Grandfather helped raise you well.

One of my goals is to visit your store one day. Keep sharing with us, you have no idea how much I have learned from you over the years. I pass along that knowledge to my own grandchildren too. God bless you-Sally, Ann Arbor.

  3. I have told people for 45 years, I learn something every day. Most people laugh at me but I feel I really do learn something new. Happy garden days.

  4. Well, that was more deep than I was prepared for. My Dad passed, going on 2 years ago now, and I think of him often in the garden as well. He taught me so much about life. It’s true that you don’t know how precious time is. Cherish each season, each day, and all your loved ones ❤

  5. First time I've ever disagreed with you, Luke! I believe you're a fantastic gardener, full stop. This was an inspiring video.

  6. Your grandpa was a wise man! Never got meet my grandpas and lost grandmas when 8 then 9. Learned from my parents, and au ts ancles tho!! Grew up raising our own food!

  7. I wish everyone grew up with a wise grandparent or parent like you did. I have to admit I’m a bit jealous but at 60 I’m sharing with my granddaughters and I pray I can be a blessing to them the way your grandfather was to you. By the way, you are a great gardener, I’ve had the pleasure of watching you grow since the beginning of your channel. I believe your grandfather would be proud.

  8. Thank you Luke. I am honored to have been given these wise words from your grandfather. Know that I live in a completely different climate than you, but I know you have a way of teaching about growing food that I feel comes from the heart. Again thanks.

  9. Luke, not sure what spured you to this topic, but yeah a pretty common theme, maybe people have forgotten. It is nice to use all the available information to learn what you want to learn, but you can emulate other people but you must be your own person, Yes Grandpa was right, not arrogant, use all the infor he can and do his own thing. Sure makes live good or bad, and in garening, yep well that didn't work, but hey look over here.
