Two large white tents have been erected outside a house on a quiet street in Wirral. Police activity was first spotted by locals on Wednesday, September 6, with residents noticing an increased presence of officers and multiple sightings of Merseyside Police’s Matrix vans patrolling the area on Thursday (September 4) and today, September 5.

Two large tents have since been set up outside the house on Livingstone Road. When the ECHO arrived at the scene this evening (Friday, September 5) the tents could be seen in the front garden of the property with a wooden board laid underneath them.

One of the tents, left partially uncovered, revealed what appeared to be a well decorated with fairy lights. The second tent remains fully enclosed from public view.

A force incident manager for Merseyside Police told the ECHO a “crime scene is in place” and that officers are conducting an “ongoing search” at property which has been ongoing for a few days now.

No further details surrounding the incident or what police are searching for have been confirmed.

One woman described feeling “unnerved” at the sight of the police scene. She said: “The tents went up this morning, and I saw the Matrix vans going up and down the street. It’s a bit unnerving, to be honest. No one’s got a clue what’s going on.

“We don’t have much going on round here, it’s usually quiet. The lady that lives there doesn’t come out much, she’s quite elderly. That’s all I know.”

One man reported seeing a large police scene earlier in the week. He said: “There was armed police round the shop on Wednesday night when I was going into work. There were loads of police at the top of the estate.

Another person described seeing a significant police presence over the last two days. They said: “It’s all very strange. The [police] vans are there from about 9am till around 5pm. Then it is just a few, normally in two unmarked cars. [They go] in and out of the house until all the vans return the next morning.”

Merseyside Police has been approached for further comment.
