This plants leaves have recently started slowly dying, noticed these white and brown dots littering it. Not sure what they are? I dont water this plant super frequently and it is pretty far from the window but seemed to be growing happily till about 2 weeks ago.

That’s scale. In my experience, it’s very hard to eradicate so unless it’s a sentimental plant, I suggest you get rid of it.

Scale…depending on size of plant, patience, and attachment to plant is going to determine if you try and get rid of it or toss it. First quarantine the plant, then get to work on attacking the bastards. I bought a headlamp and bag of multi sized q-tips along with alcohol (to drink and use on the plant🤭) it can require many rounds of clearing off each plant and coming back a week later and doing it all over again. Not impossible but labor intensive and frustrating at times for sure. Only you know which way to go, best of luck!🍀

Qtips and alcohol are how we would treat these at the nursery I worked at, you could also try qtips and insecticidal soap. You have to physically remove them because the hard tops (scales) of adults are very resistant to sprays. This does look preeetty extensive though, if it was me I might just cut all the foliage down to the soil and start over ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Ughhhhhhhh. Scale. To top it off there’s a zillion kinds and the males look like an entirely different thing. I battled it on some orchids, though and made a difference. But we are talking complete growing medium changes and a whole summer of keeping after it.
