I hope I did it right. The pole is staked in the inside of the pole with bamboo. How often do I water it? what do I do when the plant out grows the pole? I just ziptie another one on top?

My only critique is that zip ties are very restrictive and won’t allow for much stem growth. It’s fine for a bit, but I’d replace with small Velcro straps (cheap on amazon) or twine

Few things, yes this is good however you’ve used all of your pole space on the plant you already have. It’s essentially already almost outgrown it. You’d be better off chopping it into one or two leaves, rooting that then adding a pole so it can actually climb it and size up as it goes.

Yes when it outgrows the pole, just add another on top. Look up sydney plant guy chop and extend videos. He explains the whole concept very well.

You want the moss consistently moist, so water it enough that it never dries out. Water just enough to keep the pole wet without any going into your pot substrate to prevent overwatering.

Usually you start from cuttings and grow them up the moss pole to mature it and get big leaves. These will root but not mature in that way

It’s more like you gave it structure. But as others have said, this isn’t how to use moss poles.

I just have to ask— what is the polka dot plant to the left??! She’s beautiful!

I’m a big moss pole grower, and love seeing people getting into the niche!

My bit of advice is that melanochrysum is one of
the most notoriously difficult philodendrons to mature/grow. If my experience with Melano was my introduction to moss poles, I would have immediately quit.

The only thing I would do differently is how you attach it. Those zip ties are really tight. I like the velcro because you can reuse it. As my plants grow, I usually loosen the velcro when it starts getting tighter around the stem. Pretty though, good job!❤️
