I have had this guy for about 5 years. He was left at our house by my son's gf. I watered him and what not, but at that point I only had a couple of house plant and I don't fancy myself with a green thumb so only hardy plants survive me. This guy's nearly died 3 times from lack of care good lighting. I eventually got seriously about giving him everything he needed to be happy. He hung in my kitchen window for about a year (in the kitchen so I didn't forget to water him)and was doing great until get got so big and heavy that the top branches were dying from holding all the weight.
So I got the idea to buy a big pot and a trelis, the trelis was the key, big pot probably didn't hurt anything either. It's been 5 or 6 months since I transplanted him and he absolutely loves his trelis and is thriving.
Not gonna lie I don't know what I'll do when he's even bigger, should I just trim him back? Give starts to the entire neighborhood?

    Beautiful! Does it ever flower?

You could probably cut it back and it would just bush out again very easily.

This grows as wild ground cover where I’m from in Hawai’i!

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one that calls them wandering dudes hahaha

Yours looks amazing, my mom gave me 4 different cuttings so I’m using one in an enclosure for a gecko of mine. The other 3 I’m considering putting in a massive pot and letting them all go wild!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!? 🤯 I had no idea they could get this full, I’ve also neglected mine and am trying to nurse her back to life! ❤️‍🩹

Hearing your story brings me so much joy, and makes me want to keep her going! The trellis sounds brilliant!

    Thank you for sharing! 💜

How do you get this bush look? My are always doing what they do…WANDER off…Heck, I’m not even sure how they wander so far with nearly completely brown stems as they stretch many feet out.

  6. Can you show the back of the plant? I want a good look at the trellis

Nice job! Don’t be shy about cutting it back. But as you know, it will encourage even more growth! It’s just at that stage where you’ll find yourself constantly having to do it. It’s gorgeous, congratulations!

When they get too big and something goes wrong, they tell the oldest leaves to die off. To avoid this you just keep them pruned.

My wandering dude nanok was this size and fell over. She’s in recovery. Once they get a certain size, they basically are indestructible.

Do you have to guide it on the trellis or will it find its own way?
