Stunned grandma gets adopted granddaughter as an early Christmas gift

Mary, a Connecticut grandma, gets a huge surprise when her daughter and son-in-law bring their newly adopted baby girl home in time for Christmas.

USA Today

HGTV just named the best garden in Connecticut.

And it’s the first public rose garden established in American history.

The Home and Garden Television network named what they think is the best garden in every state in the United States and put them all in one list.

“We love gardens of all shapes and sizes (and know you do too!)” HGTV said. “And we just want to be sure you don’t miss any icons that could be right under your nose — or on your travel itinerary — when time is a finite resource.”

Here’s the Connecticut garden HGTV called a must-visit.

Elizabeth Park Rose Garden

HGTV chose the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden, also known as the Helen S. Kaman Rose Garden, because of its historical significance as the first-ever municipal rose garden in the U.S., but also because of its abundance of flowers. It is also the third-largest rose garden in the country, after all.

Here’s what HGTV said about it: “America’s oldest public rose garden blooms with romantic nostalgia, with more than 15,000 roses in 800 varieties. The garden’s century-old arches, draped with climbing roses, create magical tunnels.”

The park is so beautiful that many couples get their wedding pictures taken in there and have their own ceremony at this historic place. You can even apply for that on the Hartford government website.

“Elizabeth Park is on the National Register of Historic Places, and it offers over one-hundred acres of formal gardens, green space, recreational facilities, walking loops, and the Pond House Restaurant and Café,” the government website said.

Established in 1904, the Elizabeth Park Rose Garden can be found at 1561 Asylum Ave. in West Hartford, Connecticut.
