MIgardener: Every Crop We are Planting NOW in September!
Get your seeds growing for fall! There is still so much that I will be growing this fall. Here’s a comprehensive list of everything we are starting for fall in September.
I have several MI Gardener seed packets mentioned here that didn't make it to our early spring plantings, and I am rarin' to go! There's just still a lot of late summer chores here in the short-season high elevation arid plateau of Northern Arizona. Our pest pressure is late this year due to the drought. No way I can sow beans or squash at this point. It's all about the frost tolerant peas, carrots, roots, and brassicas. Best wishes and blessings to all ❤
I love Fall planting of lettuce and spinach. I do want to add that counting days to frost doesn't mean you have all those days for growing beans, zucchini, etc. Days with highs in upper 40's or lower 50s and lows in upper 30s might not have frost, but the plants won't grow well. There isn't enough Growing degree days left. Not saying a person shouldn't try, I have tried to grow multiple warm weather crops here in South Dakota in the Fall. I just have not had good luck because the heat just isn't there to mature them. I learned I need to start them in August to be successful.
I really love your concept of just getting the seeds started since we never know exactly when our last frost is. We may just make another round of harvest. So get them in anyway. And if we dont get a harvest bc the frost came early, oh well. At least we tried. No biggie. Love that!
Honestly I think your fall planting videos are my favorite of all. They inspire and remind me of all the possibilities yet to realize! It’s so easy to limit ourselves to spring and summer crops. Thanks, Luke! 🙂

Interesting to hear you talk about the garlic. I'm central Canada, zone 3, and we don't plant our garlic until October, usually.
Thanks so much Luke! Always love your videos and always learn something!
I would love to see some over wintering content or some indoor growing ideas for us fellow northerners (hello from WI!)
The goat of the garden cilantro was left off the list sir
I love that u are in a colder climate like me and it helps me know what to plant ❤❤
Woohoo! Can't, won't, and don't stop sowing!!!
