GRAND BLANC — The City of Grand Blanc has announced the completion of a community initiative to enhance a prominent garden at the intersection of Center Road and Saginaw Street.

The project was supported through grants from the Grand Blanc Community Fund and the Creasey Family Parks Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

“The project aims to beautify a key city intersection and create a welcoming space for residents and visitors,” city Manager Wendy Jean-Buhrer said in a press release.

The revitalization project includes the addition of new planters, elegant trellises, decorative barrels, and a state-of-the-art aqua-stick irrigation system to ensure the garden remains vibrant and healthy.

“A stunning bronze sculpture now serves as the garden’s centerpiece, adding a touch of public art and character to the landscape,” Jean-Buhrer said.

The bronze sculpture, “Butterfly Dreams,” and many other sculptures in the city, were created by Jordan Rose of the Randolph Rose Collection.

The idea for the sculpture came from Grand Blanc’s Touch the Earth Garden Club whose members help plan, plant and maintain the garden which Jean-Buhrer described as “more than just a collection of plants … a symbol of the community’s commitment to beautification and public space.”

“The city is incredibly grateful for the support from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint, which made it possible to acquire the materials needed to bring this vision to life,” Jean-Buhrer said.

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the garden. — L.R.
