Ohio community garden hosts first corn harvest at Harvest Place
their green thumb on as they hosted their first- ever corn harvest. Garden coordinator Jennifer Griffin says through volunteer efforts they gathered 45 pounds of edible corn and 40 pounds of compost corn. She says it was amazing to watch this small field flourish and see a growing interest in this communal center throughout the area. (Jennifer Griffin garden coordinator, master gardener) “From planting it to watching it grown and now finally harvesting it, it’s been incredible. Some of the volunteers say they have a new appreciation for the corn, just to be able to watch the whole process and be a part of it was enlightening for them.” Griffin says the ultimate goal of this location is to turn it into an outdoor classroom where anyone can learn essential skills and take care of an interactive space together.
