An information session is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, at the Penn State Extension office, 71 Hollow Crest Road, Suite 2, Tunkhannock.

At the session, prospective applicants will meet the Master Gardener Coordinator, hear details of the Basic Training course and learn more about the program’s education outreach in Wyoming County.

Master Gardener Basic Training weekly classes will begin Oct. 2 and continue through March 2026. Classes will be held Thursday evenings via Zoom online webinar from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The webinars are recorded for the option to view at an alternative day and time. Access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone is necessary to complete the course.

Classes are taught by Penn State Extension horticulture educators. Course topics include Basic Botany, Plant Diseases, Soil Health, Plant Propagation, Weeds/Invasive Species, Pruning, Vegetable Gardens, Indoor Plants, Native Plants, Tree Fruits, Landscape Design, and more.

Occasional in-person training lessons are scheduled in the Tunkhannock area for hands-on activities to reinforce the webinar content.
