Let’s face it, gardening is one of the most therapeutic tasks you can do at home. It’s calming and soothing, plus you can really take your time nurturing all your plants and flowers. However, with autumn just around the corner, dealing with fallen leaves can be a bit of a nuisance.

Many people leave them to simply blow away, but if they stick around and you have to pick them up yourself, they can prove quite bothersome. So if you’re in search of a clever gardening hack, the Today Years Old X account – which boasts more than one million followers – shared a technique you can use to make it easier. The caption read: “Work smarter, not harder.”

It was accompanied by a video showing a woman grabbing a black bin bag and getting to work on her garden.

She placed the bin on her feet and slowly swept up all the leaves into the bag- without any stress or fuss.

And just like that, all the leaves are in the bin, which you can then place into your recycling ready for collection.

A pack of 20 bin bags can be picked up for £2.50 from Tesco which works out to 25p per bag.

Gardeners can also pick them up from Asda with a 20 pack coming in at £2.28 which works out to 11.4p each.

One person queried: “I will never understand why we put leaves in plastic bags.”

Another commented: “Trying to work out how I can incorporate this into cleaning my house.”

While a third praised: “Smart lady!”

But not everyone was convinced as they’ve discovered the hack before.

Someone added: “Been doing that since I was a teen, next!”

Gardeners have also been issued advice about a beautiful plant that can prove detrimental to their properties.

With its lofty, slender stems and swift growth, bamboo is fast becoming a favourite amongst gardeners. This striking plant provides excellent coverage and its height makes it a fantastic alternative to traditional fencing.

However, if not properly managed, this rapidly growing plant can become a nightmare. It’s been known to dislodge paving stones, wreck driveways and even damage water and sewage pipes due to its incredibly sturdy rhizomes.

Rhizomes are the underground parts of the stems.

These aren’t roots but modified subterranean stems that function similarly to roots and grow horizontally through the soil.
