Layman Brewing celebrates its fifth anniversary this weekend with a beer garden bash at its West Allis home, a vintage corner tavern at 6001 W. Madison St.

Layman – owned and operated by Sarah Warran and her husband Kyle Ida – was the second brewery of the craft era to open in West Allis and with Westallion gone, it is now the oldest in town.

If you haven’t been there yet, now is the perfect opportunity as the brewery will host an Oktoberfest-style party in its future Beer Garden (currently known as its parking lot) from 2 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6.

There will be a full bar, Layman’s house beer, snacks and $3 cups of Leinie’s Original while supplies last.

As the day progresses, expect a 5 p.m. pig roast that can be enjoyed to the dulcet tones of the Happy Shotski Polka Combo.
