I would suggest doing a happy frog, or ocean forest bag, with 50% perlite, and a bit of lava rock pebbles, like 1/4 ” in size. This will allow good aeration and keep the soil from. Compacting on you, as well as help the soil dry out quickly between watering, also these require alot of light, so you may wanna add a t5 over heads of that’s its final place. I would take outside if possible for the warm months. And bring inside for cold ones, I would avoid watering while inside unless it starts to really dry out, youll notice it in the ribs structure.
Also add some earthworm castings sprinkled ontop of soil every 6 months for feeding.
Theres alot more you can do but this is the basics and will provide good results for that bad boy.
Congrats on the come up and happy cactusing!!!

in all honesty, if your soil can drain and dry quickly, pot size is not of great concern. However, I’d repot him immediately and go up to whatever is the next size. If you’re good with fertilizing, the pot will last a good long while since you won’t tap out the nutritional value easily.

If the plant is in the soil he was grown in, get rid of it as it contains too much organic.
