I purchased a money tree from Home Depot a few months ago. It was clustered and had plenty of leaves. It's leaves were attacked by my cats, so we had to move it out of reach for it's and my cat's safety. It's new spot was by a window and had plenty of light. My mom is usually the one to water it and she's pretty good with watering regularly.

It started looking sad and slowly declining, so I repotted it. I found it was bound with tape and had fuzzy green/grey mold under the soil. I sprayed it with peroxide and put the two remaining stalks into their own pots.

But as you can see, one of them has whithered away and the other has brown creeping up its last green stem.

I would really appreciate any advice or instruction you may have! I just want to see if I can save it.

Thanks! 🙏

(Also, sorry the lighting sucks. the purple grow lights mess with the color on camera)

Unfortunately I think it might be time to get a new money tree 😞

I would start trying to scratch the wood to see if there is green/life inside. Then:
What was the root condition? Do the pots have draining holes?
I’m also thinking maybe it could have been too much direct light from the window?

Better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all

“Watering regularly” lol that tells me your mom overwatered it.

There’s not saving it, it’s rotton.
