Let’s face it, gardening ranks among the most therapeutic tasks you can tackle around the home. It’s calming and peaceful, allowing you to truly take your time caring for all your plants and blooms.

With autumn now approaching fast, dealing with fallen leaves can become quite tiresome. Typically you’d leave them to simply drift away in the wind, or get someone else to handle the task – either way, masses of them can prove rather bothersome.

So if you’re seeking a clever gardening hack, the Today Years Old account on X, formerly Twitter, which boasts 1 million followers, has revealed a brilliant technique.

The post read: “Work smarter, not harder” alongside footage showing a woman grabbing a black bin bag before getting started.

She positioned the bag around her feet and gradually swept all the leaves directly into the sack – completely hassle-free and effortless.

Just like that, every leaf ends up in the bin, ready to pop straight into your recycling for collection day.

A pack of 20 bin bags can be picked up for £2.50 from Tesco which works out to 25p per bag. Gardeners can also pick them up from Asda with a 20 pack coming in at £2.28 which works out to 11.4p each.

One viewer questioned: “I will never understand why we put leaves in plastic bags..”

Another commented: “Trying to workout how I can incorporate this into cleaning my house.”

Whilst a third praised: “Smart lady!” However, not everyone was impressed, having already discovered this trick.

Someone remarked: “Been doing that since I was a teen, next!”.
