  2. Hi, My husband has the same sentiment towards the tools his dad gave him too. It’s amazing how many memories are connected to those tools.

  3. This was SO fun! Sorry you two – I am not a new gardener (don't want to take room away from their comments) – BUT this is exactly why I garden. Homegrown is amazing when compared to store-bought. Taste, variety, taste, variety, taste. 😃 Recently, I've made jalapeno pesto, salsa fresca, salsa verde, and many veggie stir-frys .. without a trip to the store. Can't beat the clean flavor and eating. Thank you for another great vid!

  4. This is my first-year1 gardening, I like that I know there is nothing in my garden that is harmful. I eat right out of the garden as I am gathering, or I even go out to the garden just to have a snack.

  5. I had an ant problem that I solved used the TERRO Liquid Ant Baits that you push down into the soil. I used them in my veggie raised beds and in my rose planters. The active ingredient is borax. I could have made my own traps with borax but these were so much easier. The reduced ant population also lowered the aphid population on my roses.

For my tomato trellises, I switched from the poly garden twine to Nylon/Poly micro utility cord. It's a thin paracord. It's super strong, doesn't fray and works well with tomato clips. I purchased the dark green color and it becomes nearly invisible.

Lastly, I don't trim the dead and crispy parts off when temps are super high. It exposes the stem and healthy leaves to the intense sun and they just turn crispy and brown too. I wait until the heatwave breaks with forecast temps going down and then I prune.

  6. Mmm fajitas! It’s more fun to do a clean up buddy. You’re a great team 🫶 It was sweet to see your love for your Dads teachings and tools 🤗

  7. Bless you Gerry! I feel that way about my Nan when ever i see her recipe books and her handwritten notes. She was actually my step Nan but she took me under her wing when my Mum died when i was 10 and ended up going into care. I kinda also feel like that about my Mother in Law, when i use some of her preserving equipment. I often ask myself, would they be proud of us? I still grow my Step Father in Laws tomatoes and because we didn't even know what he called this variety he developed, we call them Dr Tony's as he had a DR in geology and in soil studies as well. He was very into no dig before i knew what no dig meant. We got our biggest one this year 616g/ 21.73 oz. Last year we had one with a funny "nose" so stacked them up and it looked like a tomato "Olaf".

I am pretty sure your parents would be so proud of you guys and what you have achieved and would be honoured that you are still thinking about him and what he taught you. Thank you for sharing that personal moment and it is ok to feel emotional. It's your body's natural release. If that makes sense? Take care and have a marvellous week! ❤🫂👍 x

  8. You guys are just like us, cooking for an army of 2. LOL. We ordered our griddle earlier today. If you love the little griddle, upgrade to a 28 inch griddle. I like these videos better then the main ones.

  9. So much inspiration and so relatable with the tools being passed down. I worried about you on the ladder even though you go about these tasks wisely. All your home grown food looks delicious and I definitely plan to think about getting the Blackstone. Such a pleasure to watch you two.

  10. Kim how do u deal with the horn worms. I have been hand picking them is there a organic spray for them help plz

  11. Question, does it matter if the landscape staples rust? Also, I’m just up the road in Dana Point and it’s been affid central!

  12. I am a new gardener. Only harvest pickled cucumbers so far. I’ve planted other seeds but nothing germinated. So disappointing. I even tried the same seeds twice and still nothing. I think I have tons of fungus gnats in my soil. I’ve sprayed, I’ve added tea soaked graduals to soil, I’ve put up yellow sticky cards and still can’t control them. Any ideas? Is that why my seeds are not germinating? Love your videos. Someday I am hoping to be able to cook and eat items for my Garden. Jerry, I felt your sadness talking about your dad’s tools. Now that I am gardening wishes I had some of my own dad’s tools.

  13. Been eating my tomatoes and zucchini's in omelets, bacon and tomato sandwiches and pickles lately now that the cucumbers are growing. I am so glad I got into gardening 7 years ago by watching people like you on youtube who taught me everything I know- my physical and mental health have excelled and I will always be a gardener. Thanks for sharing and keep these uncut videos coming 🙂

  14. You're right CG. I have never seen that stash spot. Mine was & still is my east side yard (kitchen/dining room windows) but I turned it into a summer cherry tomato & green alley. The Runner Bean refried looks amazing. But it was liberating hacking into the yard waste bin my Powdery Mildew laden runner bean vines. I see ur logic CG on the blackstone with the juices. Perhaps I can replicate with a cast iron pan on my charcoal barrel. Kim that meal looks amazing!

  15. Aww Man! That meal looked sooo yummy! I have finally sowed more lettuce & radish seeds over the last 3 days. I'm definitely pushing the timeline with frost approaching here in Columbus in mid October, but why not try I say. First time in all my gardening experience doing a 'fall planting'. 😊
And your seeds I purchased from you and planted on 8/30 has begun to sprout already. The arugula and Pan Choi in particular. Didn't expect to see any action in less than a week.
And @CameraGuy – can you really, really have too many sticks! 😂😂😂

  16. I absolutely LOVED this video! You touched upon so many undone jobs around the garden that I have yet to do, you shared your buggy plants, and when Jerry said that he wished we were all there with you, I had just thought to myself that I felt like I was there with you my dear friends. So, mission accomplished Jerry! Kim, I love your garden hat. When you said you were working in the heat, I wondered if you ever wore a hat, and voilà, you put on a hat, LOL! This was a very unusual gardening year for me, mostly due to physical injuries. The back garden (and front, for that matter) is a mess with overgrown plants, I never got to set up an irrigation system, so I haphazardly hand water, and the only plant that brought me joy this year were the purple beans that I planted. They were amazing, and I harvested them every single day during the cool season. I will definitely grow them again. I do have tomato plants, however, it is taking MONTHS for them to ripen! We actually have been having an unusually cool summer here in Northern California (zone 9b/10a). Good thing we have a long growing season here!! And, Jerry, although I am not technically a brand new gardener, I think I will always be a newbie because I learn something new every year! I am definitely "in" because I agree completely that once you get to harvest food that you grew from a tiny seed, and cook it fresh, there is just no going back! Much love to you both!! 🥰🍅🥕🍎🍍🍋🧅🧄🍉🍇🫐🍓🍆🌽🌶🫑🥬🥦

  17. I have followed your channel for several years and I can it tell you how much I’m enjoying your vehicle d the scenes videos where you show us the flaws (that we all have). It’s also such a pleasure to get to see camera guy more too, Jerry is a jewel! Always love seeing g him in the vids! I also appreciate you showing us what you do with your harvest, your dinner looked amazing!!

  18. Hi Kim and Jerry! I watch all your videos. I don't usually comment, but these uncut videos are so much fun! It makes me feel that I'm not alone with my garden issues!
