To start, my dog is fine and didn't seem to have any issues with it.
Question: Can I save it? Will it grow back if I cut it back? Where do I cut it back? Prop it? I'm just sad and don't know what to do.
Please send help!

Check on your dog I believe they’re poisonous

It’ll come back from a growth point on the main leafs stem or a node below will activate. It will be okay just ugly for a few days

It will be a slow process, but it can come back from this. I personally wouldn’t rush to chop and prop, but rather take a week or two to consider it (edit: and probably grieve a little bit). In that cooling off period, I would be mindful of maximizing light and keeping soil moisture consistent (to avoid rot – the roots are your best asset right now! You will probably need to water less since it only has that tiny leaf).

If you want to chop & prop at that point, go ahead. But I would lean more into fertilizer. Those intact, established roots are something to be grateful for and utilized! If you’re on a regular feeding schedule, then just stick with it. If not, start one.

Sorry this happened, and I really hope your dog didn’t actually ingest much and remains okay!

Dogs and cats don’t usually harm plants, but when they do it they are worse than thrips or mealy bugs but I don’t see anybody freaking about it, such speceism /s

As for the dog – I’d have called and just asked the vet, but typically I think the issue is that it’s an irritant that can cause irritation in the mouth/throat and potentially digestive upset – especially since the dog threw it up quickly, may be fine with monitoring and not a full on vet appt. But again, I’d have called just to check.

As for the plant – as some others have suggested I’d cut it down, and it’ll be fine. As long as it has green and node, it’ll be fine lol. I had to cut down like 5/8 monstera deliciosas bc I watered them outside when it was 17 degrees. Yikes. Had to cut all the leaves that had cold damage, and they didn’t have ‘amazing’ roots AND I had to put them in pots that were definitely far too large for them. And they’ve all stayed alive. All have new root growth, leaves, and aerial roots coming….so I’m convinced yours likely has a good root system and will def bounce back. =D
