Sandra Leung, who recently began growing dahlias and is now a member of the executive board of the Vancouver Dahlia Society, says tending to the colourful plant can easily grow into an addiction. Betty Girard, the co-chair of the Vancouver Dahlia Show committee, said the plant can grow virtually anywhere, despite having a reputation for being difficult to manage.
