Spring is a beautiful time of year, and there’s so many lovely flower festivals for us to look forward to, from the blooming tulips in the Dandenong Ranges to the delicate cherry blossoms in the Yarra Valley. And in the Macedon Ranges, we can soon look forward to the annual Bluebell Festival at Duneira Estate. Visit this historic house, and meander around the vast heritage garden. As you go, you’ll see a delightful row of pretty bluebells along Dutch Elm Avenue. This festival will run from 10am to 3pm on Saturday October 25 and Sunday October 26.

This grand estate was first established in 1872, and is now home to 38 acres of gardens, chestnut groves, an apple orchard and more. If you’d like to learn more about the place, there will be guided garden tours in the morning and afternoon. You’re also welcome to enter the house and admire the art collection.
Gaze at the magnificent bluebells, and soak in the joyful atmosphere with music from So Saxy. If you’re hungry, you’ll find homemade treats from the Macedon CWA, including scones with jam and cream. For more sweets, try an ice cream from Mia Mia Gelateria. There will also be a sausage sizzle and barista coffee. For something a bit stronger, sip on a glass of wine from ECK Wines, or a gin and tonic from the distillery, Travelling While Standing Still.
When you’re not admiring the bluebells or exploring the gardens, have fun with some old fashioned highland games on the lawn.
General tickets are $35 plus booking fee, while senior and concession tickets are $30. Children aged 16 and under can enter for free.
You’ll find this festival at 1 Officer Lane, Mount Macedon, VIC 3440.
