Around a month ago I posted about a Dottie that wasn't dying, but certainly was not healthy ( https://www.reddit.com/r/calatheas/comments/1mj05hk/we_are_getting_there_but_shes_still_not_fully/ ). Pictures 1 and 2 are older leaves (the small specks are dust, not pests). New leaves were entirely burned and crispy: I think I've cut the last 3 or 4 because they were hopeless right from the start. All brown before they even started to unfurl.
Now I finally have a healthy new leaf (picture 3) with only a small burned spot on the edge and two more on the way (picture 4). I know you can't lower the guard with these assholes, but it really looks like I'm on the right track.
What did I change? I applied the tips I got in the previous thread (thanks).
1- Added some perlite to the mix, to provide more drainage.
2- No more tap water. I'm now watering it with demineralized water with a Ca/Mg supplement.
3- No more misting.
I didn't change: location, pot size, light, temperature.
From the next watering I'll add some very diluted nitrogen fertilizer. Also, I won't cut anything for a while. Maybe I'll consider cutting the most damaged leaves when (if) I have 5-6 new, healthy ones.
