TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Botanic Garden is open on Labor Day to give visitors an extra opportunity to experience FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN before the exhibit’s Oklahoma debut ends later this month.

According to the announcement, the FLORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN exhibit at Tulsa Botanic Garden ends on Sept. 21.

The nationally touring exhibit showcases 20 installations of metal sculptures inspired by origami and nature. According to the Tulsa Botanic Garden’s announcement, it was created by Santa Fe-based artists Jennifer and Kevin Box in collaboration with renowned origami masters.

The FLORIGAMI exhibit includes 17-foot-tall tulips, life-size deer and kinetic sculptures that spin in the wind.

FOX23 spoke with Jeffrey Fox, Curator of the Tandy Floral Terraces at the Tulsa Botanic Garden, on Monday.

He discussed what makes the FLORIGAMI exhibit at the Garden unique.

“We’re putting them up in places that showcases them in a different way because they’re becoming a part of the landscape here, and playing off the different features of the plants and our water features, and providing different vantage points,” Fox said.

Fox said his favorite piece in the FLORIGAMI exhibit is the 17-foot-tall tulips.

It’s free with regular Tulsa Botanic Garden admission.

A free audio tour featuring the artists is also available to visitors along with a scavenger hunt for kids.

Families with WIC, SNAP, or Oklahoma Foster Parent benefits are eligible for discounted admission, the announcement read.
