Wick and District Gardening Club held an open meeting at the Pulteney Centre featuring afternoon tea and a floral art demonstration by Laura Manson of Flaurals Floral Design, Halkirk.
Laura’s demonstration was on a harvest theme and she used spectacular autumn colours in her displays, which went into the raffle on the day. The three winners were delighted to be going home with such impressive arrangements.
The club also held its annual competition for the Walker Trophy. This year’s theme was “An arrangement of what is left in your garden” and Laura judged the entries.
The winner was Gladys Gunn, with Jeanette Coghill in second place and club chairperson Marney Bruce third.

Marney thanked Laura for her demonstration and talk and for judging the Walker Trophy. She also thanked Pulteneytown People’s Project for hosting the event and everyone who made the day such a success.
In July, Wick and District Gardening Club had a pit stop at the River Bothy in Berriedale before visiting the nearby Langwell gardens. The head gardener escorted the members around in gorgeous sunshine.
Members then headed up the road to Forse of Nature for afternoon tea.
