I did this as a project years ago when I was young with an ex boyfriend. Ever since, I've kind of looked after it. There are living creatures in there such as pill bugs, slugs, worms and many other small insects.

I may have to move house soon and unfortunately I won't be able to bring this with me. Is there any suggestions on how to get rid of these? I feel bad as I've created a whole life in there.

  1. By ‘move house’, I assume you are in the UK and sadly not within driving distance 😭

If you listed it for free online, I would be one of the people who would snap it right up

I know your really not planning on keeping it but I would still try. I mean you don’t leave a dog just because your moving

If no one does offer to take them- if these were all collected locally ( everything is native to your area)
can you just pour the water back into the pond you got it from or one that’s similar? And dump the contents of the terrarium near where they were collected?

If there are non native organisms releasing them locally would not be a good idea. For example if the pond weed was purchased from a pet store it may well be something that is not native and is invasive.

Another idea- do you know any teachers? One might like having them in their classroom. If you have friends with kids you could ask them- if they want them or know a teacher who would like them.

Have you considered a local school or university? I can see anyone teaching science, biology or conservation really loving this as a teaching tool.
