I never pull up roots of dead plants unless they are diseased or infested. I’ve found that last year’s amaranth roots are a great way to deeply water areas in your garden. Would you try this? (I know what this looks like… it’s the jet setting on my hose at low pressure.)

This is so weird… I Love it!

I think this is really cool!

    Thanks for sharing

Do you still churn your soil at the end of the year?

I worry my beds would become too compacted.

Cool idea! I’m not sure I understand the need to water so deeply though. Water already moves down through the soil (thanks gravity!) so if I put water on top I’ll feed the surface (where most of the roots are) as well as lower down.

I’m going to end up on the native plant circle jerk, aren’t I?

Damn, gardening really overrides my dirty mind cos all I was thinking about was, “Now that’s some deep watering,” until I read the comments.

I kept worrying a bee was going to be flushed up 😥 they love to hide in old stems 🐝

Reminds me of a certain scene in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure 😅

Thought I was in /r/composting watching a daily nitrogen addition.

Mad respect on the consistent aim.
