[Music] Hello and welcome back for what turned out to be a mini patio refresh on a $100 budget and a whole lot of yard work in our backyard. We had so many bigger projects to do out here and a lot of cleaning up, weeding, just all of the not so fun yard cleanup tasks that we have been putting off for the last 3 weeks because it’s been just raining and thunderstorms nearly every single day. But we finally had a hot, sunny summer day. So, we decided to take full advantage, get everything checked off of our to-do list and share it all with you. It is finally a day that it’s not raining and thunderstorming so we can get out here and start cleaning up the backyard. We’ve got so much yard work to do back here, including breaking down these branches that fell from this tree with the storms over the last couple of weeks. And there is this absolute mess. It’s just like a dump zone behind our shed. So, we need to get this tidied up. And then we’ve got this like small jungle that is growing into our yard from our neighbors yard. Clearly, they’re not taking care of their property the way they should, and it’s spilling over into ours. So, I placed an online Lowe’s pickup order this morning for a weeding tool. That should make it a lot easier to get that cleared out. And then we also needed a chainsaw. We have a pole saw, but we needed like a handheld chainsaw to be able to break up these branches and get them into the yard waist bins a whole lot easier than breaking them apart by hand. So, huge thank you to Lowe’s for partnering with me and sponsoring today’s video. But, while we wait on that order, I figured we could get started on resetting this patio space. We actually haven’t been able to use this at all this summer so far because of all the rain and thunderstorms. It has caused this like huge overgrowth of weeds in this space. So, we need to remove everything, get to weeding out the patio, and then kind of reset the furniture. And by then, my order should be ready for pickup. Okay, so while we work on getting all this furniture out of the way so that we can address the patio situation and get it all cleaned up, I figured I might as well explain how this overgrowth was even possible. And if you are new here, hi, hello, welcome. My name is Megan. Here on my channel, I love to share all things homemaking. So, that’s everything from cleaning and decluttering, motivation, small home organization ideas, budget room makeovers, and DIY home improvement projects like this DIY patio that my husband Derek, he’s on screen right now. Everyone say hi, Derek. So, my husband Derek and I and a friend of ours actually laid this patio, I want to say four to 5 years ago. I shared that entire transformation. There was a small patio space here to begin with and we expanded it to this 21 by6 ft size and I documented all of that in like this massive patio makeover video. So, if you haven’t seen that already, I’ll leave it linked for you. It’s it’s a really good one if you want to go back and watch it. But anyway, we did everything that we were supposed to. So, we laid down the landscaping fabric. We used paver sand to level everything. laid the actual pavers, but we skipped the finishing step, which is to sweep PA sand in between all the cracks and then you wet it and that dries down to be like a almost like cement or a grout. It seals it and finishes it and keeps everything locked in place. But we never did that because we always knew that this was going to be a temporary patio space. We’d really like to remove that big HVAC unit and move it to the other side of the house and then pull up all of these pavers, which would be tremendously difficult if we had locked them in place with the paver sand. So, pull up all of the pavers and replace it with a deck of the same size that comes right off of the house, like right under where the back door is, expands to that full 21×6 size, and then has three steps that go around on all of the edges that lead into the yard. We’re currently getting quotes and we’re hoping that we’ll be able to do it either at the end of this season, right in time for fall or the beginning of next spring. But anyway, we got all of the weeds removed. We kind of just know we have to do this once a year and Derek is using the leaf blower to blow off all of that extra debris. And by this time, my Lowe’s pickup order was ready. So, I took advantage of the car AC and a few free moments and went to get our order. And I just could not help myself. I had to go into the store and see if they had a groundbreaker skeleton. I was so excited that they are starting to stock Halloween. If you do not know, Halloween is such a big thing and it starts in the summertime. So, Lowe’s always has some great animatronics and we’re looking for a groundbreaker skeleton this year. They didn’t have it yet, but they did have this t-shirt and there’s only one in a size small. So, I figured it was a sign I had to grab it and add it to my pickup order. So, I have everything I need for a little patio refresh, some tools to finish all of that yard work, and we’re going to head home and get it out of the car and get back to work. I have got to say, it is hot outside today. So, I definitely appreciated the little break from working out in the direct sun and the high heat and humidity to go pick up my Lowe’s order. But if you are someone who prefers to just like power through, then Lowe’s does now offer free delivery services on eligible instock items as long as you order before 2:00 p.m. So, I could have also had these delivered to the house, but I was definitely looking to just take that nice little break in the car AC. But, I’m going to grab everything from my order out of here, get it in the backyard, and kind of show you what we’re working with and what the plan is. Okay, let me walk you through my pickup order real quick. So, I got this standup weeding tool from the Fiskers brand. It’s really cool because you can just stand up and use your foot to push this into the weed and then this little mechanism here releases it into the yard waist bin. That way you don’t have to literally break your back weeding the lawn. Probably should have got two, but we’ll see how it works and if I need to place a delivery order for a second one. And then this I’m so excited about. It’s a Cobalt cordless chainsaw kit with the battery and charger included under $200. I love Lowe’s guarantee. You can find top quality products and tools like this. everything from home improvement to home decor online and in stores every single day for those low budget friendly Lowe’s prices. And then for my super budget friendly patio refresh, I could not pass up these outdoor clearance finds. I got two of these gorgeous pillows with like the palm leaf detail on them and then two that are more neutral with a stripe detail. These were like $13 on clearance. That is wild. Especially because they are outdoor safe. They’ve got removable covers, all four of them, and they are machine washable, so they’ll be really easy to keep in good condition, even on the uncovered patio space. And I think they just look so nice together. And then also a rug. We haven’t had one in over a year, but I have purchased an outdoor rug from Lowe’s before, and it lasted us like five seasons before we had to replace it, even on our uncovered space. So, I was browsing to see what kind of deals they had and found this one. It is very soft on this side, but then it has that like durable outdoor backing on it and it’s got a little fringe detail down here. I’ll show it to you like all spread out. We’re going to put this in our like seating lounge portion of the patio and just refresh that space so we can actually start using it now that the rain is clearing away. Okay, so while I work on resetting this little lounge seating area, which is essentially a mini patio makeover for under $100, I just wanted to remind you all that today’s video is sponsored by Lowe’s. So, thank you so much to Lowe’s for partnering with me and sponsoring today’s video. At Lowe’s, you can find a variety of top-notch products from home improvement to home decor, all at affordable prices. They offer free store pickup, so you can buy online or through the mobile app and pick up at your local Lowe’s, free shipping, and even same day delivery. So, you can get same day delivery for eligible in stock items when you order by 2 p.m. And take advantage of the Lowe’s low price guarantee. You can find competitive prices every day, both online and in store. I am over the moon with my new Lowe’s finds. And I’ll have everything linked for you down in my description box. You can shop all of my finds and your home needs using the link down in my description box. And thank you so much to Lowe’s for partnering with me and sponsoring today’s video. [Music] Resetting this furniture took only a few minutes, but I swear I always make things more complicated than they have to be. So, I was just messing around with our little bar cart and then our side tables, just doing the most when it wasn’t necessary. But, let me show you guys and remind you what this space looked like when we first started today because this transformation is insane. This basically looked like a chaotic almost jungle in my backyard. It was not welcoming or even clean at all. And this is what it’s looking like now. Completely reset. I cannot wait to have cool summer evening dinners out here, barbecues with friends, and just relax in this lounge space with a cold iced tea. I wish that I could do that right now, but we still have so much yard work to do. So instead, I am going to unbox our new chainsaw, which came in just a few pieces. You do have to assemble it yourself or put it together, but it was very simple and straightforward to get that done. And in about 5 minutes, we were ready to start using it. Again, this is the Cobalt brand. This is a Lowe’s exclusive brand, I am pretty sure. And they always have really great power tool options at very affordable prices. And this chainsaw was no exception. I was even able to use it myself. I was worried about kickback and that I just wouldn’t feel confident using it. But it was actually very easy to use. And it made quick work of getting all of these branches broken down. And we completely filled this one yard waste bin just from these fallen branches and all of the leaves and twigs that came about with them. So Dererick wanted to try the chainsaw too, which is why you see him kind of using that now. And I was just kind of getting everything else into the bin and sweeping up while he was having fun getting used to that and playing around with it. We already have started on other projects using this. And it is probably going to be one of our top most used power tools. We’re kicking ourselves for not having having invested in one sooner, but very glad to finally have it now. And also very excited that we were able to find it as a full kit that came with the battery and the charger. But once we had all of those branches broken down, then I’m just going to get our big push broom and sweep up all of these little twigs and all of the leaves and we’re going to put those in the yard waste bin. I know we could have just blown them into the yard and they would be mulched up when Dererick mows, but there were a lot of twigs in there. So, I just wanted to make sure that we got that all out of the way before he brought out the leaf blower to blow off the concrete pad. And while he was doing that, I wanted to get started over here on this mess of a space behind our shed has essentially become a dump zone. And this is just due to pure laziness. There’s really no other excuse for it besides that we thought we were saving time in the moment, but really it ended up costing us about 3 hours on a very, very hot, sunny afternoon to get this all reset and cleaned up and back in kind of working order. We’re doing our best here. We’re not exactly sure what we’re going to do with this space. We go back and forth between if we want to build like a simple kind of leanto covering off the back of the shed or if we want to build onto this foundation. So take out everything that is clearly like rotting away and replace it, extend it, and then put another shed on the back of this one because we have a lot of yard ornaments and like holiday decor animatronics and lights. Every single year we do a really big Halloween yard display and also a Christmas light display. And we’ve just accumulated so many things. Again, looking for a groundbreaker skeleton this year. and we are running out of spaces to put them. So, we think we might want to add on a shed to the back that is exclusively for outdoor lawn ornaments and decor. But, that will definitely be a problem to solve in 2026. I don’t think we’re going to get to it before the end of this year. So, in the meantime, we’re just doing temporary fixes, kind of cleaning up what we were already keeping back here and rearranging it so that it’s not just like piled on a big mound of rocks in the back of the yard looking like a mountain of trash. [Music] The inside of this deck box was so nasty and full of bugs and spiders, but once I got that rinsed out, we put it back behind the shed, and we are going to continue to use it for storage. And we also got these wire racks back here. They won’t be permanently back here, but at least for the end of the summer. And I’m going to use them to hold these bags of soil. I accidentally got inground soil instead of potting soil, but I figured I could just save it and use it for some raised garden beds, which I will be working on within the next few weeks. And then we had this random smaller deck box that I realized used to be next to our front door. We got it for delivery packages, but then delivery drivers wouldn’t put the packages in it. So, now we kind of just have an extra, and I’m going to repurpose that for some of the kids outdoor toys. I’ll show you here in a minute where it ends up going. And then we also have this big pile of cinder blocks here. And I had no idea what to do with them, but I just didn’t want them stacked anymore. I felt like it was a safety issue. So, I’m just kind of moving them about and extending where I’ve got them stacked, I guess, before grabbing that weeding tool and coming back to this pile of rocks and starting to weed through all of this. I was using that Fisker’s weeding tool to get all of the overgrowth and weeds out. And then Derek was coming in and any extra landscaping fabric that had been caught up in there and like wood logs and twigs and things like that he was collecting to put in the yard waste bin. We used to have this red rock in our front landscaping and we removed it all to put in black rubber mulch 2 years ago and we love that change. We don’t regret it one single bit. But similar to the cinder box, we did not know what to do to dispose of that much rock aside from renting a truck and taking it to the dump. So, we dumped it all back here and figured we could use it in a future project. I do think I’m going to use it as filler in those raised garden beds, but we still will have way more than I’ll actually need. So, if you have any ideas for how we can repurpose this or dispose of it, please let me know. But in the meantime, I’m just kind of trying to get it cleaned up because I don’t want to throw old landscaping fabric and weeds into new raised garden beds. [Music] Just cleaning up a few more odds and ends and getting those tucked away against the back of the shed. And then grabbing that small deck box. I’m actually going to bring that up onto this concrete slab. And I figured I could fill it with sidewalk chalk. and the girls could draw chalk drawings on this concrete slab and actually give it a function and a purpose here in the backyard. Eventually, I would love to rent a jackhammer and get rid of it, but I don’t think that’s going to be anything that we do in 2025 either. So, right now, I’m just trying to make the best of the fact that it’s stuck here in the middle of the yard. I also grabbed our Connect 4 game and figured having it here in front and center would entice us to play with it a little bit more. And then Dererick and I are going to set up our fire pit and little cozy seating area over here. And then we are going to call it a day because it was hot and I was tired. All right, I am so tired. So Dererick’s over here with the weeding tool and he’s going to be clearing some of this up and said that he’d be okay to just at least get it started without me because I am ready for a shower and a hot meal. But I did get most all of the weeds out of this rock pile here. And we cleaned up behind the shed and it looks so much better. And here’s the view from the other side of the shed. So you can see it’s all cleaned up. We don’t have just piles of stuff anymore. And we were able to completely break down all of those fallen branches here with that cobalt chainsaw. It took us like 15 minutes. It was so user friendly and it just made quick work of the job. So, since we have this big concrete slab that I feel like every season I say I don’t know what to do with it this year, I think what we’re going to do is leave our big connect four out here and then this deck box and I’m going to fill it with like whiffle balls and chalk and things like that. And the girls can do sidewalk chalk back here on this concrete slab. And then the real star of the show today, we finally got our patio back in working order. It feels so good to have removed all of those weeds, reset all of our furniture, and kind of refreshed, especially this lounge space with my new Lowe’s finds, which you can find linked down in my description box. And once again, a huge thank you to Lowe’s for partnering with me and sponsoring today’s video. You can check out all of my Lowe’s new finds down in the description box using that link, everything featured in today’s video. But it’s just looking so good. I’m going to get my family outside. We’re going to eat dinner out here tonight and just relax and lounge around and enjoy the space that we’ve spent all day setting up. Thanks so much for hanging out with me. Hopefully I see you all in the next one. Bye. [Music]

Could you use the stone and add some edging to make a firepit area?
Omgg!! You guys did a great job! We have a huge backyard and side yard, we have tons of weeds and I swear I break my back getting in there. I am getting the weed tool! Looked like it cut a lot of time in half and was simple to use! Thank you!
Looks so nice!

Looks great!
Lovely space! We used cut-up branches and logs for the first layer of filler in our grow boxes.
Love it!
The slab would make a great bean bag toss area.
Use the cinder blocks around your shed and make a flower bed.
Never get rid of them because you will use them for something.
You could use them around the concrete slab and make a flower
bed and use the loose stone under the cinder blocks.
Great video, Megan. Your patio looks good. Nice transformation. I hope Derek had fun with his new toy 😂. Have a great rest of your week ❤
Looks good
What you showed at the beginning of this video is my backyard. We can’t get grass to grow here. We have weeds, rocks and mud. We can’t get grass to grow in the spring. But it all dies in the summer. Hi Derrick! We have a small fenced backyard for our dogs. So we don’t have anywhere to sit back there. I do have a double rocker out front. We don’t have a big front yard either. It’s mostly fenced. We had a stray large puppy show up here a few years ago. So my husband fenced the front. But she was too much for us. She was some kind of bird dog. And she was teething, and kept chewing on us. One day I told my husband I just couldn’t take her. So we took her to the shelter near us. And I kept track of her. She was adopted. We already have three small inside dogs. But I still would love a big dog. Put in a basketball hoop. We had one on the side of our driveway at our old house. Our daughter’s and their friends used to play. Actually, someone who lived behind us, put in an actual full size basketball court. There son was out there all the time. I still remember hearing that basketball bounce all day long. And the kids, right behind us, screaming in their pool all day. That was why we moved. We now live in the country in a different state. And we love it.
It looks fabulous!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember you saying last year you wanted to use the concrete slab as a garden area. Are you gonna be doing that this year. I remember you promised that. I know it was in outdoor video. You were talking about it.
👏 👏
Looks so great!
Great video I would have hosed off everything around the shed, and started with a clean slate!! Can’t wait for more outdoor videos ❤❤
Hi Megan. I'm coming over from Katie Vining's channel as a long time subscriber of hers. I was on the Live last night and you 2 have a great connect. I had to join your channel. I'm blow away by what I see so far. The backyard looks beautiful. Glad I found you on YouTube. Cool tattoos btw 👍🏽🏡
You could spread all that red rocks around that storage room area, great drainage.
Big transformation – the patio looks so relaxing and love the colour combination ❤
What if you used the concrete slab for your chairs and fire pit instead of the connect four game. It would be safe because the pit is on the concrete. Then you could string some lights above through the tree branches hanging over it
Looks awesome
Could you offer the rock free on Facebook market for someone to collect?
I'm going to get one of those weeders tomorrow! I hadn't seen one like that. I can't wait to try it.
I started following your channel when you guys went to remodel a friends home in FL. Absolutely luv your channel…especially your transparency regarding mental health struggles. You keep it real and I am here for it. Oh, and my fav video of all time is your laundry room re-do.
Hi I have center blocks in my garden and I used them to separate my patio and my garden and inside of the holes I put in a plant, but you could also do your flower bed with it as a border and you could still plant inside of the holes or put a solar light inside of them that’s what I would do with them and the rocks I would have put them around the tree and put them around inside of my planters
You should use the extra gravel for the fire pit area
Hi Megan! Your before and afters are always so great! Hope you have been able to enjoy your yard more!
❤
The rocks would be good to put down for your fire pit and chairs
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Looks great wow 😮
You did a great job,looks so good.😊❤
You could frame a large round garden bed around the big tree and put the rock into the bed and maybe plant some flowers or plants
What did you do with all the other pillows and items that you had outside when you did your last refresh video? Can’t you reuse those items? Instead of buying all new stuff 😅
Great transformation 🌸🌺
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Everything is looking great 👍 ❤!
You might be able to sell/give away the rock pile. Someone out there may need it! Great transformation!
The concrete slab could be your permanent home for your fire pit.
