Minecraft fans have been eagerly anticipating the Winter Drop, which was first announced alongside the Bundles of Bravery update. Among the various features revealed for the former, the new Creaking mob and Pale Garden biome garnered the most attention.

Mojang Studios recently announced via Minecraft’s official account on X that the Winter Drop — including the Creaking mob and Pale Garden biome — will officially be released on December 3, 2024. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Minecraft Winter Drop coming soon

The Winter Drop will introduce a host of exciting additions to Minecraft. Among them is the Pale Garden, a new overworld biome. Its pale grey trees and grass can be used as indicators to reach this location. No mobs except one will naturally spawn here, making it quite desolate.

During the day, the Pale Garden doesn’t have much to offer other than the eyeblossom flower. However, things completely change at night. In the darkness, the new hostile mob called the Creaking spawns, bringing an exciting addition that pushes you to switch up your combat style.

Similar to the Warden, who is blind but can hear you moving, the Creaking will attack you whenever you are not looking at it. It will also not take any damage from your attacks. The idea is to navigate the forest while maintaining eye contact with this mob and destroying its Creaking Heart. Finding and breaking this item in the Pale Garden will despawn the hostile mob.

Destroying the heart will give you the resin block, which can be put inside the furnace to make resin bricks. You can also use it for construction purposes, and it goes well with the Pale Oak block. Additionally, you can craft the Creaking Heart using one resin block and two Pale Oak wood blocks.

Another interesting aspect of the Winter Drop is that you can use the Creaking Heart to summon the Creaking mob in any biome you want. Placing the heart between two Pale Oak wood logs that are in the same orientation will activate it.

New flower in the Winter Drop

Among the interesting content coming to Minecraft is the eyeblossom flower. This item has two During the day, it remains closed and looks grey, but at night, it opens up and emits an orange glow, very similar to the eyes of the Creaking mob. You can use the flowers to make grey and orange dyes, depending on when the flower is taken.
