What does everyone do with their spider plant babies? Leave them on the vine?
I occasionally grow them and give them away, currently have 15 growing roots in water. There’s just SO MANY.
give them all to me 🙂 lol jk, you can leave them as they are or pop them in a new pot

My grandmother curses me for this very reason after giving her my old spider plant amongst other plants when I moved a large distance.
Your best bet is to give them away as gifts or possibly selling them cheap on marketplace or something of the sorts. Could just cut them off and toss them out but myself and lots of others don’t like doing that.

you could sell them, I bought some reverse variegated spider plant pups off Etsy last year and they’re doing great. I ordered 2 but the guy sent me like 8 because he just had so many lol

I save small nursery pots and just stick them straight into dirt. After a month or two, they’re fully established and I put them all on my front stoop with a “FREE PLANTS! YAY!” sign and I tape a little note about the plant and how to care for it onto each pot. They are usually gone in less than a day, and having a Ring doorbell I sometimes get to see how happy people are to get a free plant. 🙂 Sometimes, somebody will be greedy and take a bunch (last time I had ~20 spider babies, and one woman got a box out of her car and took EIGHT of them), but most folks only take one.

just let it grow rampant and have a bush

I prop them in jars with gravel. Easy to place anywhere greenery, I also hang them on walls. I add liquid nutrients, and they seem to be happy. If they start looking ratty, I toss them in the compost and replace it.
I hoard 99 cent bud vases from the thrift JUST for this. Prop them in the bud vases, when they start to root I drop them off at the local elder center. Mine has a “free table” for anything from old magazines to bumper crop produce. They seem to appreciate them.

I think they’re a little like zucchini, you hafta drop and run! Seriously, the one I have is from 55 years ago, given to me back then. After a couple of years, you can replant some of the babies, compost the overgrown main plant.

Sell them, or give them away if you’re feeling generous lol
Put them in cute jars and give them away as gifts

I’d leave them. I saw a pic (I’m not sure where) of someone who left them and whoa, that plant was a BEAST. It was glorious. I wish I could do it but I have cats that just destroy all the babies on mine.
spekoek
I am going to put them in a row in front of my window to help the privacy

Can you replant them in new pots!?!?

I’ve also been wondering about this. I inherited one this summer that is THRIVING out on my deck, and has so many little babies growing. I’ve started to get concerned for when I have to bring it inside over the winter (I live I’m Canada ✌🏻). So many great ideas in this post. I have none to add, just wanted to give some appreciation 😅

I throw them in a baggie and chuck them to my neighbors porches. (I live in an apartment complex)

Holy cow! Mine has basically been stagnant for over a year. I would die for this

I used to cut them off, root them, and give them away on places like fb marketplace. People really appreciate a free plant!

Am I the only one who snips them off? My babies were having babies and the plant was huge. I just don’t have room for them.
Gsiver
Offer them to your neighbors or co workers. All they need is a cup of water to prop
Fr05t_B1t
Offer to acquaintances, friends, family, or sell them like 4 for $1 potted or bare root.
nommabelle
give them away! you could find facebook groups in your area – plant groups, buy-nothing groups, etc!

I bought a nice amber colored glass vase, filled it with water, and stuck the babies in there. Two years later, water is as clear as the first day, I just top it off weekly. The babies are happy.
If you are in zone 9 or above you can put them in the ground and use them in landscaping. The thick roots are hardy in the ground even when the tops freeze

Oh, you don’t have cats. Your plant is beautiful, my little demons never let mine get that nice.
