Took three months of planning, preparation, and patience, but it was so worth it!!

I initially started off with just the VFTs, which I've owned since April and recently divided in preparation for this, but I wanted to expand my horizons with more carnivorous plants and finally had the funds and time to do so! And what better way to do it than with a collective space for them all? :). Featured are six VFTs, two bog violets, S. formosa (middle-right), S. Dixie Lace (bottom left), and S. Farnhamii, situated in a 3:1:1 (peat moss/perlite/silica sand) mix. I also added some natural driftwood pieces to temporarily fill the space and make it look a bit more "real", if that makes much sense. If I could change anything, I would add more soil to the pot (unfortunately ran out, hence why it sits below the rim), add live sphagnum moss, rearrange the sarrs so they don't get packed together too soon, and maybe not mess with the bottom of the pot because you may or may not find out that it's leaking some of the water that it's supposed to be storing 😊. But seeing as this entire thing was completed with only two minutes to spare before I had to leave for a few days, it's not too bad, all things considered. And this is how they look as of 8/31!

All that aside, I'm just so proud, and I love it to bits and pieces, and the only thing stopping me from staring at it 24/7 is the fact I've got college work to do 🫠. I believe this may be the start of an addiction, but a controlled one nonetheless. Hopefully. Tons of thanks to those that helped me in this thread and special thanks to u/jhay3513 for the additional assistance thereafter and the video that I used as a reference/guide. May this inspire everyone reading to go make their own. And for those wondering, no, the katydid wasn't put in the pitcher (not like she would fit, anywho) – she was happily returned to the grass after our photoshoot :).

  1. Congrats on your bog pot! It’s going to look really great when it all fills in and gets colonized with mosses.
