Strange, looks like tearing, like something got drug over it. Could be an animal, could be human, could be sun scorching through a reflection.

That looks like mechanical damage that’s happening while the leaf is growing or unfurling. Possible that it happened if you moved the plant or something scraped up against it, or maybe it was a chomp by an animal if you have pets? Regardless, not a huge deal as long as it doesn’t seem to be getting worse.

Doesn’t look like anything is eating it. Looks like mechanical damage from when it was unfurling.

    Also, pothos* not pathos.

My lemon tree seedling got damaged when a leaf blower got too close to it. Could have also just tore itself coming out the sheath, as suggested previously. If you have a pest problem I would suggest you examine your plant from the soil all the way to its leaf tips. Pests will hide in the darnedest places. Beetles, grasshoppers, crickets, and caterpillars or larvae of other insects can sometimes cause damage that looks like this too. Leafhoppers are also quite small and could cause damage to a plant like that. But that is rather rare they would cause damage like that unless you have an obvious infestation of them. Check out your plant thoroughly to be sure you have no pests to worry about. Only way to be sure is to examine your plant as daily as possible.
