The TV gardening guru was left in tears
Alan Titchmarsh was left in floods of tears after discovering a heartbreaking diagnosis on his programme.
During a repeat of ITV’s Love Your Garden, the 74-year-old arrived to assist a family in transforming their outdoor area.
His heart was shattered after travelling to Nottinghamshire where he encountered Daniel Bradbury, 32, alongside his loved ones.
The television gardening icon spoke with his guests before matters swiftly took a sad twist.
Alan and his crew travel across the nation weekly, seeking individuals requiring assistance with garden improvements. They were equally moved after speaking with Daniel.
He rapidly discovered that Daniel represents one of Britain’s youngest individuals to receive an Alzheimer’s Disease diagnosis and was unable to maintain his composure.
Alan got visibly upset
Alan subsequently informed his remaining colleagues while planning the area: “The other thing we must remember while we’re doing this is that Daniel was a landscape gardener when he was diagnosed.”
“He’s one of ours, isn’t he?” he remarked, his voice fading as emotion overwhelmed him and tears began flowing.
“As one man of soil to another, I’m determined to give Daniel and his family a garden to be proud of.”
The crew began transforming the vast, barren space, riddled with weeds and dying grass, into a magical paradise featuring figure-of-eight pathways, trees, shrubs, and wildflowers.
The space also featured a garden room and dining space, complete with a pergola covering, a functional kitchen, and seating arrangements. The team even added a water feature and a learning playhouse for the family’s two toddlers.

Daniel was then invited to witness the incredible transformation of his garden.
“Thank you very much,” Daniel said, tears welling in his eyes as he surveyed the transformed space, leaning on his wife and Alan for support.
Alan then showed Daniel ‘dad’s apple tree’ and invited him to add the final spade of soil, symbolising his contribution to its planting—a lasting legacy for his children.
Viewers were just as moved by the emotional episode. One viewer took to Twitter, writing: “What a heartbreaking story on #LoveYourGarden tonight, I hope he loves the finished product.”
Another tweeted: “Just a few minutes into #Loveyourgarden and I’m in tears already. Dementia is a terrible disease, but to have it at only 30 is devastating. The @LoveYourGarden2 team always do an incredible job and I know they will this time too.”
Another praised the presenter, saying: “That is a magical garden, Alan. Simply stunning. Well done, everyone.”
